A perfect beverage to relax with after a long day on the slopes, this extremely pleasant to drink ale has very minimal hop addition. The delicate Mt. Hood hops give it a smooth body with a bit of nuttiness and a slightly sweet malt at the end. This sessionable ale has some wonderful vanilla and honey notes that are well balanced throughout the drink.

Bottle @ home, picked up at Epic’s taproom in Denver. Pours a hazy dark orange appearance with a foamy off white head. Aroma is somewhat grassy / earthy. There’s some nuttiness to it as well. Kind of doughy. Decent body. Maybe just a hint of butterscotch in the flavor. Doughy / caramel / a touch sweet malty flavor. Short aftertaste. Not all that impressive but not a poor showing.

Draft at Euclid Hall in Denver, Colorado. The pour is a hazed orange golden with a smallish light khaki head. The aroma is grain, earthy grass, mineral and a soft hint of fruit citrus. The taste is the cracker malt, primarily, though the earthiness and the soft orange fruit citrus does peek out near the finish. The palate is light bodied, soft carbonation, and the mineral carries the finish. Simple, straight forward clean beer. Hit the spot.

Tap - turbid straw pour - mostly dry overall, with a lot of toasty grain, light mineral, light grass - biscuity middle and finish, with just a touch of vanilla and a hint of wood - creamy texture - medium body - the second best mild in town.

Batch 19. Pours with a clear, golden orange hued body with a medium sized, just barely off-white head. Aromas are of grainy malts, nuts, light plastic notes, grapenuts, lightly floral, honey. Flavors are of nutty notes, toasted biscuit, floral, a touch of citrus, unsweetened graham cracker, low esters. Malt forward, pretty sweet. Finishes with a medium bodied, medium-full carbonation. Decent, malty, somewhat session beer. A bit too sweet tasting and a touch dull though.

Sample from cask at the Big Tap In on 04/20/2013. Pours a hazy orange-gold color with a medium off-white head that recedes steadily. Partial rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of biscuit malt and hops. Light-bodied with flavors of bready malt, vanilla and mild hops. The finish is sweet with a biscuit malt aftertaste. Decent overall.

Firkin Fest 2013. Light copper color. Roasted grain both the flavor and aroma. It has good palate, which I generally find to be true of Epic beers. Good malt flavor and it is good to see this style for a change of pace.

light brown, light malty, nutty, mildly bitter mouth. Not too authentic, but ok.
