Epic Brewing has been making high-strength beers in the land of low-strength (Utah). Rather than expand their operations there, they chose to open a 2nd brewery in a more encouraging state, Colorado. This is their first batch of beer brewed here in Denver. Big, fruity hop aromas.

On tap at CBM awajicho. Fairly clear golden color with a hint of haze and a big soapy head. Not much aroma noticeable outside of a touch of grapefruit. Is this a lager?! Light bodied with a little bit of biscuit flavor but again, very mild. Epic makes some boring beers and this is a good example. --- Beer merged from original tick of Escape To Colorado IPA on 15 Dec 2015 at 14:30 - Score: 4

Can from Special Brews. Pours gold with a slight white head. Aroma of fruit, citrus and spice hints. Med body or better. Not strongly carbonated. Flavor is bitter citrus, fruit, spice. Caramel backbone is strong enough. It’s very hoppy and very bitter. Drinks easily!

The Escape to Colorado IPA 6% from Epic pours a deep gold with a thick head of foam. The hop bouquet is resinous, herbal then fruity & sweet. Medium bodied with a raspy carbonation. The taste is well balanced fruity hops, a bit of woodsy resinous pine then sweetness. Yum. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

raft. Cloudy golden body with a frothy, white head, rapidly diminishing. Aroma of orange peel, grapefruit, toasted grain and mango. Hint of resin. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes lightly to moderately sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. Medium body, watery/velvety texture, lively carbonation. A bit sweet for an IPA, but it was clean throughout, so not so bad having a sweeter IPA every once in awhile. Light lingering bitterness. Easy drinking and enjoyable, so extra overall points for all that.

Shaker pint draft at the Lowry Beer Garden. The pour is a hazed copper orange with a minimal white head. The aroma is floral, fruit, bitter grass hop. Certainly hop focused. The taste is the hop; dry floral, citrus fruit and a bit of cracker malt under all of the hops. The palate is light to medium bodied, active carbonation and a dry softly bitter finish. Nice easy drinking hop forward IPA.

12 ounce can. Pours a cloudy yellow gold color with a medium sized fluffy white head. Nice clinging lace. Fresh lemon peel hop nose. Slightly sweet bready malt flavor. More lemony citrus hops. Finish is more hops, notably pine and grapefruit. Typical of the IPA style.

On tap at bier thirty. Pours out a golden topped with a white head. Nose is heavy bread malts and a nice hop combo. Taste is as the nose with the malts leading the way and a nice hop end.

12 oz can pour. Pours a light copper color with a lasting head. A bitter hop aroma. Flavor is sweet and fruity for an IPA. Definitely different. Nice hoppy, sweet malt flavor towards the finish. Pretty good beer. Enjoyed this.
