Epic Brewing has been making high-strength beers in the land of low-strength (Utah). Rather than expand their operations there, they chose to open a 2nd brewery in a more encouraging state, Colorado. This is their first batch of beer brewed here in Denver. Big, fruity hop aromas.

Location: 12 oz can from Sparrow-Uptown, 10/23/14

Aroma: It has a fresh, fruity aroma, tropical, pine, some orange, and a a bit herbal as well
Appearance: It pours an unclear gold-orange with a sheeting white head and mid-heavy lace
Flavor: The taste is clean and lightly sweet, fairly light, with a medium bitter finish
Palate: It is clean and fairly light, extremely drinkable, reminiscent of a beer with a lower ABV
Overall Impression: This is a solid IPA. It is light, and really drinkable. From a pure feel perspective I may have guessed this was a Session IPA. It has that kind of feel. I mean that in a good and bad way, as the beer is super easy drinking, but it is also a little thin.

It is getting to be so damn fantastic finding all these canned brews around Boise... big floral and piney notes in the nose, carried out into the taste. Light citrus and moderately sweet. Really nice malt presence is minimal, but sturdy. Nice.

An IPA on the lighter side without going session. Very fruity, citrusy, overall light bodied and not very bitter. Goes down easy.

Pour is a hazy orange with a small white head. Aroma is a nice citrus fruity hop. Flavor is an equally nice citrus hop with a low malt presence and not much of a aftertaste past the initial hop. Kinda one dimensional that it’s all hops up front but not much after that. Still this will satisfy your hop crave.

12oz Can. Light amber pour witha small sandy head. Nice fresh grassy citrus hop aroma. Similar flavors, a bit papery on the bitter trailer.

Bomber. Pour is a hazy gold with a thin white head. Light in aromas and taste. Fruity, grassy hops and bisuit malt. Low bitterness. A fine line of IPA’s; but this is the least impressive Epic so far.

Pours a light golden yellow with good-sized head that leaves some nice lacing on the glass. Grassy, floral hop aromas abound. Flavor is quite grassy and piney-hop, with some hints of citrus and fruit. Rather bitter finish. Not terrible.

Can: Pine nose, cat pee accents. Hazy amber, medium head. More cat pee on the palate, less pine, with a subtle addition of marigold. Light body, soft carbonation. Well made, not my favorite hop profile.

12oz can pours with a clear gold body that supports a near white head. The modest aroma offers up floral and herbal and somewhat spicy hops and just a faint sense of maltiness. The taste starts with hop bitterness that is a blended mix of citrus, pine, floral and spicy hops. It then moves toward a malty note as the hoppiness gets more grapefruit like and bitter. There’s a good deal of hops going on here that are both smooth flavor and bitter resiny hops. After a few sips a mango hoppy notes gets in there somehow too. Pretty nice.

Sample at the Big Tap In on 05/31/2014. Hazy orange-gold color with a medium off-white head that dissipates steadily to an outer ring. Strings of lacing. Aroma of citrus, hops and pale malts. Light to medium body with flavors of grapefruit, earthy hops and toasted malt. The finish is moderately bitter with a fruity hops aftertaste. Decent overall.
