Epic Brewing has been making high-strength beers in the land of low-strength (Utah). Rather than expand their operations there, they chose to open a 2nd brewery in a more encouraging state, Colorado. This is their first batch of beer brewed here in Denver. Big, fruity hop aromas.

Hazy light tan. Lots of grapefruit, herbal hops. Light body, fruity, grapefruit and passion fruit. Almost English mouthfeel. Really refreshing. In a world of great IPAs, this stands out.

Smell is mild fruity perfume. On tap at the magic tree. Looks like pale lager. Very good tingling co2 on the first taste. Yes, first taste is somewhat calming to the nerves. Medium and easy going. Goes down fairly well, pleasantly surprised. Quite good I’d say. Hides the alky well. A decent beer experience fer sure and I’m glad to have a chance to taste this.

Some grapefruit infusion that comes off lightly astringent here. Pours golden clear with food head and lacing. Bitter finish with some astringency. Average carbonation. Tap at whole foods.

22oz bomber. $3.99. Hazy orange-copper body, frothy soapy head. A classic American IPA I suppose, in a good way. Big malts, big hops. Citrus rind, tangerine, orange. A lot of subtle depth, firmly planted in classic IPA. Good beer.

22 ounce bottle into signature pint glass, no bottle dating. Pours moderately hazy/cloudy deep golden amber color with a 1-2 finger dense and rocky off white head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass. Aromas of pineapple, peach, mango, tangerine, lemon zest, orange zest, floral, grass, light pine, honey, bread, and floral earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good complexity of hop notes with moderate malt balance; and decent strength. Taste of pineapple, peach, mango, tangerine, lemon zest, orange zest, floral, grass, pine, honey, bread, and floral earthiness. Moderate amount of pine bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of pineapple, peach, mango, tangerine, citrus zest, floral, grass, pine, honey, bread, and floral earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Nice balance and complexity of bright citrus/tropical hop flavors; with moderate malt balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a smooth, crisp, and moderately sticky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a nice IPA. Good complexity and balance of bright citrus/tropical hops and pale malt flavors; and very smooth and crisp to drink. A nicely enjoyable offering.

Bottle with noticeable sediment. Pours with a hazed golden hued body with a frothy white head that lasts. Aromas are of tropical fruit, tangelos, mango, grassy resin, moderate nutty malt character, some esters. Flavors are fruit forward hop notes: mango and strawberry, mild citrus, low bitterness, very mild malt. Medium bodied, just slightly off dry, medium carbonation.
