330ml bottle, L082, from Vinmonopolet Langnes. The deep brownish pour reveals a dense, off-white head leaving rich lacing on the glass. Prominent chocolate malty aroma, nicely smoked. Malt-driven taste character of smoke malts, liquorice, chocolate and a coffee bite. Mid-dry malty ending. Well bodied. Lovely. (Tromsø 20.05.2018).

Chelmsford Winter Beer Fest (with Rune, Rasmus, Saxo and Camons) @ KEGS. Cask. Opaque dark brown beer, a few pale tan bubbles. Palate is smooth and semi dry, modest fine carbonation. Mellow dark chocolate malts. Tangy dark fruits. Mellow smoke. Light floral fruits on the dry finish. Alright.

Cask at Archie’s, Aberdeen for the MTB event. It pours darkest brown, near black with a thick, dense, light tan head. The aroma is rich roasted malt, bitter - sweet, juicy meaty smoke, smoked ham, treacle, maple glazed donut and candy. The taste is initially smooth, bitter - sweet, creamy roasted malt, earthy, cacao, coffee grounds, good smoked character, smoked meat, cracked black pepper, dried berry, treacle with a smooth, smoked finish. Medium body and fine, foamy carbonation. Great condition. Brilliant balance and high drinkability. Probably one of the best smoked beers I have had. Could definitely drink a few pints, which I can’t usually say about this style.

On cask at the Stockbridge Tap. Appearance - opaque black with a lovely fawn head. Nose - smoke, earth, honeycomb. Prunes. Light charcoal and liquorice. Taste - a lovely blend of smoke, prunes and honeycomb which is quite unusual. Palate - medium bodied with a creamy texture and a long dry crunchy finish. Overall - lovely. Easily the best from these guys.
