Great Heck's take on a traditional Yorkshire bitter. Mahogany coloured, clean and dry, not too bitter with a subtle roasted malt flavour balanced by American Cascade and Chinook late hops for a more contemporary twist.

Cask-conditioned at the Punch Bowl (JDW), York 1/7/2019. Amber in colour, with a slight, off-white, head. A bitter that inclines towards maltiness, with some caramel, biscuity malts, touch of red berry and moderately bitter finish. Fine.

Cask at the Queens Edith, Cambridge. Light honoured brown with a dash of red. Tiny smattering of white head. Leafy, berry and red liquorice aroma. Not too in-your-face but very effective. Sweet fruity taste initially but by God there’s a bitter, bitter kick that takes hold and doesn’t let go until well after the sip is gone! Very astringent, waxy aftertaste. Pretty good session bitter, stands out a bit from your average low-strength cask.

Cask at the Guildford Arms. Pours clear amber with a bubbly white head. Aromas of biscuit and caramel. Taste is more of the same. Merest tickle of herbal hops to balance things out. Clean finish. Easy drinking.

On cask at the Guildford Arms. Appearance - golden amber with a nice lacy head. Nose - light biscuit malt. Taste - dry biscuits, some oranges creeping in. Palate - light bodied with a creamy and kinda crunchy texture through the middle section and a long dry finish. Overall - solid if a bit unexciting.
