Bottle from Buchanan’s Bistro. It pours deep red - brown with a foamy white head. The aroma is rich malty action, brown bread, spice, varnish, leather and earth. The taste is rich, dried fruits, jam, fruit cake, brown bread, earthy, musty, dirt, wood and some alcohol warmth through the finish. Medium - full body, fine carbonation and chewy mouth - feel. A rich, old-school malty number. Good fun.

Bottle, gift from Andrew. Murky brown body with an off-white film. Faint lacing. Aroma of burnt caramel, matches, mud and toffee. Flavour of prunes, raisins, plastic, subtle spices and filter coffee. Thin body with a watery texture. Soft fizz. A sweet, interesting beer. Not sure why it had to be as strong as 7.9% ABV though.
