Based on an 18th Century recipe and Intensely bold in flavour, the addition of black malt to the kettle leads to masses of Dark Chocolate & Roasted flavours, complemented with a dry finish.

Cask gravity at Croydon Craft 2016. It pours black with minimal head. The aroma is rich, chewy, roasted malt, coffee, malt loaf and cooking chocolate. The taste is bitter, rich roasted malts, chewy, coffee grounds, dark fruits, liquorice, cocoa with a dry, roasted finish. Medium body and low carbonation. Pretty punchy and flavoursome, but lacks condition. A bit more carbonation would lift this.
