Spicy, dry, unmistakably Belgian Tripel base beer aged with American Oak gives this beer a lovely hint of vanilla, coconut, and Bourbon.

Keg at the hanging bat. Pours clear golden, nose is caramel, toffee, floral, taste is sugary, sweet caramel, bit too sweet for me.

On tap at the brewery Bermondsey. Well this should be interesting. Clear gold colour lasting white head. It’s a sweet triple. Not much else. Over carbonated so all you can taste on the finish is harsh carbonic acid. Decanted from one glass to another. More of the esters come out. Not much bourbon except a slight toffee sweetness. Some citrus candied lemon lime flavours. Ok. Plain simple sweet. I like triples but a little too dry. Ok.

Clear golden, filmy head. Light bready aroma. Sweet, citrus, doughy aroma. Bitterness too, especially in the aftertaste. Some banana too. Nice.

Keg at the brewery tap room. A clear mid gold coloured pour with a lasting thin loose white head. Aroma is woody malts, apple, subdued Belgian yeast, little hot alcohol. Flavour is composed of semi sweet malts, bready and nutty malts, apple, vanilla, woody, little spicy orange rind. Palate is semi sweet, prickly highish carbonation, Warming alcohol and a little wood tannin. Not bad but very little pay off for the high boost.

Keg at Mother Kelly’s, 20/10/16. Very light hazed on a yellow pour with a big old off white cap of bubbles. Nose is bubblegum, candyfloss, sweet malts, caramel, light yeast tickle, subtle bourbonic wood. Taste comprises caramel, vanilla esters, pear, sweet tones but not over the top, light barrel, grains, soft fruits. Medium bodied with bite, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a little added boost. Nice tripel, not a style I usually enjoy but well balanced and never overly sweet or cloying.

Blond colour, no head. Aroma has some candy sweetness. Flavour also has some candy and chewing gum. In the background there’s some toasted pale malts.
