As with all sour ales, the initial sip wakes up your dull senses. There is an elevated level of Acetic Acids working their magic in this beer. The first sip assaults the palate in an enamel stripping bottom of the pH chain sort of way. In Belgian brewing there are fantastic wild ales brewed with naturally occurring yeast. These beers develop over time and are ready on their own terms.

Duck Duck Gooze is our homage to these effervescent and wonderfully complex sparkling beers.A blend of young and old barrel aged beers, this has been one of our most sought after beers year after year since it’s original release in 2009. Alas, it is released in very small quantities only once every three years, so it’s extremely difficult to come by beyond the day we release it. It does, however, turn up on our Tasting Room’s Vintage List from time to time, so don’t despair.

09-09-17 // taster, draft. At Beavertown Extravaganza 2017, London. Finally a Long time want done. The Hype was great but I think this beer can stand it. A wordclass sour ale. Well balanced. Some lambic character but with ist own uniqueness. Hay, grainy Body with slight salty Aromas and a medium sour, tart Feeling. Excellent.

Thanks Carrigan for sharing the bottle! Poured into a snifter showing hazy yellow with no head. The nose shows bretty funk with moderately intense of dried apricot and peach. The palate is light bodied and moderately carbonated. Moderately tart with a bretty funk background and a light fruit forward of peach and apricot throughout. Light citrus on the finish. 2013 vintage on August 2, 2019 Teku showing pale amber with quickly dissipating white foam. The nose shows intense notes of apricot and light brett. The palate is moderately carbonated and medium bodied. Moderately tart with intense flavors of apricot, peach, and vanilla with a clean oak background.

Hazy yellow. Not very foamy. Nice full on barley sourness in the aroma, nice lambic feel to it - with a funky barnyard. Taste is creamy sour, lots of sourness and fruity as well. Drinks great and compares with the best sours on the planet.

Draught at EBF Pre-Fest party at Eataly, 2/2/17.
Lightly to minimally hazy, bright goldenrod-brass body is topped by a good-sized white head that slowly fades to cover.
Brett adds plentiful lime, light band aid and lots of sweat in the nose, as the funk slowly deepens as it breathes. Lactic and very light acetic acids provide a "lambic-y" character, though it still smells a bit more like an American Wild ale than true lambic. Lots of oak, though it’s not overdone, with vanilla, light wood and plentiful malt behind it. No alcohol or flaw.
In the mouth, I’m immediately surprised at how malty it is. Not too sweet, but definitely one of the sweeter wild ales I’ve had in a while. Tons of rich honey mixes with moderate oak, Brett-derived citrus and tropical fruits and a bit stronger lactic-acetic acidity on the finish. Soft, malty texture with tight carbonation and no alcohol or flaw. Rating is against a "American Sour/Wild" not a Belgian Lambic.
