Keg at the AB:06 launch at the Euston Tap. It pours darkest brown with a reddish tint, moderated carbonation and a thin foamy beige head. The nose is liquorice, wood, rich caramel, tar and pine. The taste is rich roast coffee, liquorice, metal, grass, bread, dark chocolate, caramel, resin, molasses and treacle, with a woody finish. It is initially syrupy and sweet, but finishes up quite bitter. The alcohol is certainly well hidden, but there was also a lingering flavour that could only be described as Euston tap in the finish. This is an odd one indeed and "black IPA" is definitely not my favourite style.

Keg at the Euston Tap. Dark brown pour with a sturdy, off-white head. Nose holds loads of hops, piney and citrusy, and also gives off a strong maltiness. Flavor is super sweet and also super bitter. A lot of people thought the beer was too sweet, and I can understand their prerogative; I do enjoy the sweetness, however. Full bodied with average carbonation. Warm finish, sticky with sugar and piney hops. Heavy character. Notes of ripe citrus, toasted malts, demerara sugar. Overall I really enjoyed this beer. I guess you can call me an American.

375ml bottle. Pours an almost opaque chestnut colour with some reddish-brown hues on the side. The nose has pine and graprefruit pith and maybe some grapefruit. The taste has more of the pine and grapefruit, then a lot of dryness. This is bit too weird on the tast for me - Iβm disappointed. The palate is rich and creamy in the middle section and then long and zingy in the end. Overll, Iβm not convinced by this, itβs not really together, there are loads of hops a lot of alcohol but not much body!

Pours a clear orangey brown with a small off-white head. Roasted nose with some medicinal hops. Very solid body, heavily medicinal hop notes combined with the booze making this almost cough syrupish, with some late roastiness. Heavy alcohol in the finish. 270511
