Our first beer out of our new brewery is a homage to our building's former life as a Toaster Pastry factory. Biscuit malts give the beer a slightly nutty, crust-like flavor, complementing the fruity, jammy character of the hops. The toasty-sweet aroma, balanced by a bite of hops, makes this one of our favorite brews yet

Pour mahogany into a shaker. Off-white head with medium retention recedes to skim surface. Dark resin aromas. Sticky sweet resin and summer fruit front to back and into the lasting bitter earth finish.

Draft. Rich amber beer with a dark cream head. Sweet malt ad light fruity aroma. Berry and sweet malt flavor. Medium bodied. Sweet toasted malt lingers with light berries.

On tap at the San Leandro location. It pours a deep golden/light copper color with an off white head. The aroma is syrupy with some pine, plum, toffee, raisin and malt syrup. Smells like an Imperial Red. The flavor is full bodied with big hop flavor and bitterness covered over by syrupy malts. Cherry, toffee and raisin stand out. Pine. Not a bad Imperial Red. Very syrupy and sweet with moderate piney bitterness to balance it just a bit. Ok.

Seems almost like a saison. Some florals and light hay in this. Pours reddish gold with creamy head. Light bitter finish with some pine. Tap at Snallygaster.

Draft pour at Snallygaster shared by a friend, thanks Mike! Amber with beige head. Aromas of sweet biscuit, toasty notes, citrus. Tastes of toasty notes, citrus, biscuit. Medium body with a dry finish. Didn’t get the fruity flavors they were going for.

Draft at Snallygaster 2015. Poured a light red orange color with a small white head. Aroma was lots of juicy hops, sweet malt notes, but not overly malty - which is nice for a whatever this beer is supposed to be - an IPA or a Red Ale? I don’t really get the "Toaster" aspect the beer is aiming for, but it’s a pretty tasty beer. Somethign that I could see trying again during the early days of Fall where you want something hoppy but with a touch of sweet malts on the finish.
