Liefmans Goudenband is one of the most distinctive dark beers in the world. Originally called IJzerenband (Iron Band) – a reference to the iron bands around the beer barrels – the bottle gained its champagne cork when it was renamed Liefmans Goudenband (Gold Band). Made in open vats with beer of mixed fermentation, it is left to mature for four to 12 months in the cellar. Mature beer is then fortified with younger beer, so the fermentation process starts up again.

"Liefmans Goudenband (2022)", 75-cl-Flasche von Drankdozijn.nl, 6.9.2026. - Schwarzbraun, dunkler Schaum. - In der Nase herb-säuerlich fruchtige, leicht holzige "alte" Aromen. - Antrunk solide säuerlich-herb mit Resten dunklen Malzes, würzig-holzigen Noten, Karamelmalzbittere und blasser apfeliger Restsüße. Anklänge an Sherry. Perfekt karbonisiert, weich, erfrischend. Im Abgang etwas holzig und eher kurz. - Gefällt mir immer noch, aber nicht mehr so gut wie 2017, insbesondere die matte holzige Grundierung stört.

330ml Bottle as a Gift. From Belgium (West Flandria). Special Thanks to Tim. Piana jasno bezowa srednia nie za trwala, pachnie mokrym ciemnym drewnem i orzechami brazylijskimi. W smaku orzechowe, winne, karmelowe, palone, sliwka i czarna porzeczka. Odrobine daktyla zalanego octem winnym, ale spokojnie nie za kwasno tu jest. Jak to mowilaq w reklamie piwa/nie piwa Karmi Penelope Cruz "nie za slodko, nie za gorzko" to czesciowo obrazuje, ale mam wrazenie ze Goudenbandy tylko ok 10-cio letnie i wiecej i tylko korkowane wieksze butelki 750ml. Zupelnie inna bajka sie maluje.

Vintage 2013. 75oml bottle. Blue paper-wrapped with label on the bottle. Big suprise for me. (Bottle from dionizos in late 2015). 8 letnie, ok 6 lat trzymania/starzenia w piwnicy. ta belgijska burgundzka perelka jest super, nawet wydaje mi sie lepsza od wersji z 2004r. sporo ciala, czerwone owoce, slodowosc winna, kwaskowosc i taniczna wytrawnosc, lekko cierpkie ale milej gronowosci nie brakuje, pieknie rubinowo-czerwona barwa z waniliowa piana srednia, malo trwala, pachnie ziemistoscia wisniami, czerwonym winem. genialne, pyszniutkie, az co chwila chce sie oblizywac wargi, korek grzybek wypuscil dymek, spory huk, zapachnialo w calymm pokuju szlachetna flamandzka burgunidia. Color castaño, rojizo al trasluz, espuma avellana de retención corta. Aroma y sabor con matices agridulces, balsámicos y frutales, notas de ciruela roja, caramelo, sutil toque de madera, final seco moderadamente ácido... Disfrutable, mas me da la sensación de dejar a deber algo de chispa en boca, rica y buena, no obstante.
