Taster from tap at the Growler GuysGuys, Bend, 23/05/13. Pitch black with a good sized tan head. Nose is roast malt, dark chocolate, liqourice. Taste comprises roast malt, touch of booze, liqourice, sugars, bitter chocolate. Medium bodied with bite, fine carbonation, dry roast finish. Decent enough Impy.

Pitch black coloured body with a dense, one centimetre tall light brown head and a tiny bit of brown coming through when held up to a light, but this one is like 95% opaque. Aroma of anise, licorice, fennel, roasted malt, alcohol and quite a bit of milk. Medium to Full-bodied; Deep roasty flavour with oatmeal, raisins, milk, anise, licorice and a bit of peanuts in the mix - strong as hell. Aftertaste shows a bit of a roasty vibe with a lot of anise flavours mixing with some lighter sugars. Overall, a strong and pungent stout, on the border of an imperial and normal stout, but the licorice and lack of pure sweetness is evident. Nice to try, and not my favourite stout, but still a good one to try! I sampled this sixteen ounce can purchased from Bottleworks in Seattle, Washington on 10-February-2013 for US$3.50 sampled at home in [the real] Washington on 11-May-2013.

500 ml can. Very cool design. Drank out of the can. Rich robust coffee flavor, metallic, dry, dark fruit, super sweet dark chocolates. Fairly big and smooth. Odd in some ways.

Can @ Aarhus tasting. Almost black with a big brown head. Aroma is sweet, roasted malt, coffee and wood. Flavor is quite sweet and rather bitter. Dry and roasted rather bitter finish. 220313

Can. Very dark brown with big brown head. Aroma is roasted malts, chocolate, coffee and liquorice. Flavour is roasted malts, chocolate, coffee, liquorice, medium sweet, hop and medium bitter.

Can. Nice creamy head with excellent duration. Color is black. Aroma and taste are roast malt, coffee, chocolate, caramel, licorice and hops. Nice and strong.

16 oz. can pour. Appears dark black with frothy beige head. Aroma of Sweet roasted coffee beans and hints of chocolate. Light creamy texture to taste with flavours of coffee and hops. Bittersweet to start with a lasting roasted coffee finish.

500mL can at Saraveza, pours near-black with a small beige head. Aroma of roasted malt and soft chocolate malt. Flavour of chocolate malt upfront, noticeable roasted malt, but this is characterized by the chocolate mostly. Slight astringency from the roasted bitterness. Great stout.
