Belgian Style - Quadrupel / Dark Strong Rotating|

Bold & rich, this enveloping quad builds its force and character through interlacing layers of flavor. Its deep complexity begins with a molasses sweetness with notes of dark fruits like raisins and figs but develops further with an undercurrent of tart spice from its distinctive Belgian yeast for a truly transfixing brew.

750 ml bottle aged nearly two years. 2013 vintage. Color is dark brown with ruby red highlights, head that lasted for most of the snifter. Aroma is candy sugar, lasting dark fruits of raisin and figs with mild yeasty tones. Smell is pretty nice.
The flavor shows a solid base Quad qualities with dark fruit being the main base showing the figs and raisins but the alcohol is real noticeable even after sitting this amount of time. Alcohol not hidden in the slightest. The body is a little thinner than it should be... Looking for a tad more body. Not bad in any sense just lacking some body.

0.75l corked bottle shared with The Tasting Crew, marked 0283 on the back. A really special good looking bottle this! In the glass this one pours a deep, really thick deep bronze colored body, absolutely packed with tiny particles floating around. It also has a big lasting and softly lacing off-white head this. On the nose it's sweetish, lots of dried fruits. Sweetish sticky caramel, raisins, small blue plums and even some hints of wood and banana. Mild, but there. Lots of flavor! I get dry licorice with lots of that nice dried fruits found in the aroma. Woody, quite sweetish of course but no where near cloying. It has a really nice warmth that grows warmer and warmer down the throat. A hint of acidic apples in the aftertaste also actually. Not a bad one at all. 08.10.2014
