Cask at cloisters. Pours clear dark red-brown with a thin cream-coloured head. Aromas of chocolate, light nuttiness. Taste is sweet, dark fruit. Slightly thin finish, but decent.

Handpull cask at the Maypole, Cambridge. Very translucent dark brown with a slight reddish hue. Small creamy tan head, medium lacing. Light cola and blackberry aroma. Initially the taste is very agreeable: bittersweet with the promised raisiny fruitiness buoying up the flavour. The finish, unfortunately, is an acrid, almost rancid sour bitter edge. Still good all in all bit really let down by the finish.
