Our Hill 88 Double IPA employs a simple but sturdy malt backbone to balance an assertive hop aroma and flavor. It is named after one of the highest spots in the Marin Headlands and in the early days we might have sought inspiration there over a beer or two. Maybe.

Draft. Rich amber beer with a cream head. Light grapefruit and light pine aroma. Grapefruit and summer fruit flavor with light pine. Medium bodied. Good bitterness. Grapefruit and light pine linger with light summer fruit, light backing malt, and light earth.

Sample at GABF 10/07/2017, thanks to my bro for assistance with note-taking. Hazy golden color with a thin white head that burns away quickly. Spotty lace. Herbal hops, fruit and malt in the nose. Medium body with flavors of citrus, piney hops and malt. The finish is moderately bitter with a citrusy hop aftertaste. Decent overall.

Cloudy golden color. Perfumy and pillowy aroma, vanilla, citrusy hops. Lean and dry mouthfeel, resiny, with some crackery malts.
Very good.

Hazy, light tan. Thin head. The aroma is quite orangey, with a light pale malt note. Bitter, rich, pithy citrus, lots of malts. A fair bit of alcohol. Pretty good example of the style.

500mL can, pours a hazy golden with a small white head. Aroma is loaded with rye, earthy hops, and biscuity malt. Flavour is similar, with lots of earthy rye, piney hops, and dry biscuity malt. Nicely balanced, with a spicy, earthy finish. Good stuff.

From a can from Redwood City Whole Foods. The initial aroma is strong pineapple and mango. Really overt! Pours a yellow-gold that is clear with a large white head that fades to a full ring with slight patterns. Taste is a balance of malt sweetness - caramelized sweet roll - and citrus. The bitterness is present, but not overpowering and I would be surprised if this batch was really 88 IBUs. Tasty.

Can shared at Leighton’s place 27/06/2016. From Beer hawk. A clear golden orange coloured pour with a frothy sticky white head. Aroma is toffee, toasted pine, toffee biscuity malts, chewy orange rind. Flavour is composed of semi sweet, orange peel, chewy hop, toffee, resinous pine. Palate is medium bodied, chewy, medium sweet, moderate carbonation. Past its best.
