Fast on the heels of our fantasticly reformulated Hops Infusion, our brewers have picked up the gauntlet and brewed a Double IPA using exclusively Simcoe(R) Hops! This west coast Hops was created in 2000 by Select Botanicals, Inc. and carries a fantastic flavor profile abounding with citrusy-grapefruit, piney, resiny notes that pushes this Double IPA over the top. 9.0% ABV in the brew gives it a nice malt foundation as well.

On tap at Rattle n Hum. One of the best doubl IPAs Iβve ever had. Golden copper hue with a medium head. Nose is all hops. Flavor is all hops as well, and the most notable flavor is of pine. At once bitter and sweet. Delicious. Beautiful. Finish is somewhat dry and lip-smacking. Excellent. 1/26/2010: Tried it on cask tonight. Nowhere near as good as on draft. The hoppiness really mellows out. The carbonation decreases, and the beer is really more like a hop juice. Still good, but a completely different experience.

12 ounce bottle from Beer Run in Charlottesville, VA. Pours a hazy strawberry red color with a thin head. Decent head retention and lacing. Aroma is predominantly hop notes with citrus and peppery notes. Some like caramel malty notes as well. Taste is very hoppy with bitter resinous hops notes and some citrus. Toffee malts attempt to complete, but just canβt, which is OK. Full bodied with a sticky texture.

Overall Impression: Another older rating of a Weyerbacher beer. I know I enjoyed this one, but I really need to review it again soon to give a full report.

Bottle. Amber beer with an off-white head. Grapefruit and light pine aroma. Nice grapefruit and pine flavor with backing caramel. Medium-plus bodied. Caramel, grapefruit and pine linger. Nice bitterness. A bit too much caramel and so could use a bit more bitterness for an IIPA. Very nice, but also somehow just missing something.

Huge hop aroma, citrus and pine. Big alcohol burn in the mouth, peppery hops, massive bitterness but very well balanced and refreshing. A fabulous beer. The single hop really gave an original, interesting experience.

(11/14/08) Bottle at Eulogy in Philadelphia. Very hazy orange-amber with a big stable off-white head. Aroma of grapefruity hops and hints of pine. Bitter hoppy flavor with some resinous notes, a bit of grapefruit, light malty sweetness and hints of alcohol. Medium-bodied. Quite good.

Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, heavy hoppy, pine, grapefruit. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration. Body is medium to full, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. Bottle thanks to ucusty. Pours with a very large, creamy thick, off-white head covering a hazy, deep orang body. Fantastic lacing and full retention. Aroma is beautiful citrus hops with tons of caramel. Taste is a bit hot up front with matls and finishing with a nice bitterness. Alcohol is clearly there in the taste, but it is great in its hop bomb goodness. Creamy mouthfeel coupled with playful carbonation.

12 oz bottle. Trade with TheEpeeist. Thanks a lot. Pours slightly unclear orange with a creamy white head & lacings. Aroma is of fruity & bitter hops. Lots of pine, grapefruit & soap. Very mild sweet touch. Sticky & good smooth palate. Crisp & ends very dry & bitter! Lovely!
