Fast on the heels of our fantasticly reformulated Hops Infusion, our brewers have picked up the gauntlet and brewed a Double IPA using exclusively Simcoe(R) Hops! This west coast Hops was created in 2000 by Select Botanicals, Inc. and carries a fantastic flavor profile abounding with citrusy-grapefruit, piney, resiny notes that pushes this Double IPA over the top. 9.0% ABV in the brew gives it a nice malt foundation as well.

33cl bottle at a friends house. Excellent double ipa. Wow! Very hoppy. Very drinkable

Bottle, big thanks to Steve in New Jersey for this absolute wee belter !! Good looking vivid amber pour with an attractive off white head that said please come and drink me, I’m yours. Fresh piney hop nose that was just spot on, as indeed was the flavour which ticked all the right boxes and then some.... The Simcoes on show were just bloody gorgeous. I didn’t want this one to end and that’s surely the sign of a brew straight outta the top drawer. Nigh on perfect hop bitterness . Great stuff, props to the East Coast !!

Tap BGH, Brooklyn chimay glass ($6): Pours a brownish amber (much darker than what I expected) with a rather nice off-white head. Aroma is a ton of simcoe hops along with the expected caramel malts. The beer’s front has a lot of hoppy power that is sustained throughout until leaving a formidable aftertaste. Not very much sweetness to deal with but there is a considerable malt presence. Much heavier mouthfeel than many D.IPAs I have had, but doesn’t get to be syrupy like some. Overall, quite good, but definitely needs to be sipped.

33 cL bottle, courtesy of fiulijn. Pours cloudy orange with a small white head. Aroma is dry hoppy and slight chemical. Dry hoppy, slight spiced to chemical. Bitter and slight dry caramelish tooin the flavour. Bitter and dry finish.

Thanks, plovmand for sharing. hazy dark orange, smooth white head. aroma sweet flowery and piny, malty, a littel old beer. flavor sweet hopy, bitter, faint pine. bitterhops, grapefruit.

Bottle. Pours a clear amber with a nicely lacing off white head. Aroma is full of pine notes, but there isn’t much else on the nose. Flavor is full of hops with a bit of sweet malts coming in towards the finish.

Bottle, pours hazy orange with a tall frothy light tan head. Strong Simcoe nose, lightly piney and notes of cannabis. Flavor is full of sweet toasted nuts and bready malts with a pine hop finish that is dry and awesome. This also has a candied pear flavor. This has got to be one of my favorite, DIPA’s!

On cask at Friday the Firkenteenth at the Grey Lodge Pub. Pours a translucent copper, amber with a lacing white head. Aroma of oranges, herbs, flowers. Flavor is well balanced, caramel sweetness, citrus fruits, earthy. Bitter, slightly sticky finish.

Appearance is golden orange with hues of amber, slight turbidity. Nice white head with some staying power and excellent lacing. Smell is fresh grass and pine with distant hints of lemon and black pepper. Taste is very dominant hops, but not as overpowering as some American IPAs, this one is better balanced than most. Nice bitter finish which is long lasting. Very drinkable. A notch below the Mikkeller Simcoe, but head and shoulders about the average American IPA.
