Fast on the heels of our fantasticly reformulated Hops Infusion, our brewers have picked up the gauntlet and brewed a Double IPA using exclusively Simcoe(R) Hops! This west coast Hops was created in 2000 by Select Botanicals, Inc. and carries a fantastic flavor profile abounding with citrusy-grapefruit, piney, resiny notes that pushes this Double IPA over the top. 9.0% ABV in the brew gives it a nice malt foundation as well.

Bottle. Dark orange. Off white head. Nose/taste of caramel malt, honey, fresh hops, pineapple and tropical fruits. Dry bitter finish.

Represents the DIPA that pushed me over the wall towards hoppy beers. I fell in love with those registered Simcoe hops and their piney, citric, pot-laced funk that followed them around. Double Simcoe IPA starts sweet and citrus-laced, but the bitter, bracing hops soon overload your tongue with intense, resinous IBUs. Yet, just as you fear you may enter Ruination-like levels of bitterness, the malts show back up and the finish fades away dry but clean. Gets a bit of alcohol heat as the pint opens up, but it still scores tasty. (12/08)

Süß-hopfiger Geruch, etwas malzig. Danke an DerDoppelbock!

Bottle from H.J. Hansen. Nice head with good duration. Color is amber. Aroma and taste are peach, flowers, grapefruit, caramel, lots of hops and malt. Nice and bitter.

Bottle bought in a shop near the common in Boston, Mass last October. A hazy amber coloured pour with a smallish white head. Nice hoppy, mango aroma. Tastes of mango, grapefruit, peach, not too hoppy, very rich, malty, smooth. This is a big DIPA and I really liked it, too bad I cannot buy it here in the UK.

Cloudy dark amber beer. Lush but well balanced hops dominate. Smooth marmaladey grapefruit and hop resins abound but it’s not too bitter. An odd dusty note detracts from what is otherwise a very nice beer.

355ml bottle shared with OleR at Schouskjelleren in Oslo. A tiny off-white head when agitated. Slightly cloudy, dark-orange coloured body. Herbal hops and dried fruits to the nose. Citric shells, grapefruit, apricot and a touch of yeast in flavour. Rich, dark fruity bitterness to a long lived ending. Oily palate. Another tasty American IPA (Oslo, 10.01.2011).

bottle from Bierkompass. Hazy deep amber-golden colour, large and persistent off-white head. Hoppy nose. Full-bodied, bitter-sweet. Solid malty base with a shy touch of caramel, lots of piney, citrusy, resiny hop flavours, you can almost chew this. Very hoppy indeed, delicious.

Pour is a amber with a average white head. Aroma is all things hoppy. Flavor is the same but even more intense. Strong hops all around and the alcohol is not to be found. A stellar beer.
