Fast on the heels of our fantasticly reformulated Hops Infusion, our brewers have picked up the gauntlet and brewed a Double IPA using exclusively Simcoe(R) Hops! This west coast Hops was created in 2000 by Select Botanicals, Inc. and carries a fantastic flavor profile abounding with citrusy-grapefruit, piney, resiny notes that pushes this Double IPA over the top. 9.0% ABV in the brew gives it a nice malt foundation as well.

12 oz. bottle at the Brick Store Pub. Pours a dark orange with a nice tan head. Brilliant apricot and pine hop aroma and some brown sugar and caramel. The flavor is strong hoppy bitterness, but very well balanced. The palate is heavy, sticky and astringent, with a long, clingy, bitter finish. Overall, this is a very delicious and well made beer.

Pours dark orange with a sticky foamy head. Aroma has notes of citrusy and exotic fruits, hops and pine. Taste is very fruity with notes of pine, hops and grass. Nice long lasting bitter and fruity finish. Well balanced, great IIPA.

12 oz. bottle, pours hazy orangey amber with a beige head. Beautiful aroma of piney hops, caramel malts, and some tropical fruity elements, though the pine outshines everything else. Flavour of intensely piney hops, with just enough caramel malt to back - bitter piney hops on the finish. Extremely creamy palate - the piney hops just seemingly melt in your mouth. Most wonderful.

Bottle @ Beer Temple. Orange color, hazy. Off white head, but not much. Strong aroma’s of resin & citrus, almost acidic, but also some sweet fruit. Flavor is moderately sweet and quite bitter, a hint of acidity. Medium bodied and quite a strong alcohol feel. Finishes quite harsh bitter, but still pleasant.

Bottle at Craft Beer Co. it pours dark hazy orange, with a thin foamy off-white head and moderate carbonation. The nose is resin, pine, orange, grapefruit, strawberry, raspberry, Granny Smith apple. The taste is resin, pine, orange zest, grapefruit, tangy mango, warming alcohol, grass, walnut and leather, with a long bitter pine finish. Great balance, well hidden alcohol and just utterly drinkable. Awesome.

0.33l bottle @ Henrik, Bergen. Pours a really cloudy near murky reddish/brown body with a small bubbly beige head. Aroma is light fruity and malty with notes of ripe strawberries and a decent amount of pine. Medium- to full bodied, average to softly carbonated and has a oily to almost sticky mouthfeeling. Quite bitter and grassy on the flavors with some nice sweet caramel, good amount of malts and lots of lovely simcoe hops. Ends light dry and quite bitter. A really nice dipa!
On tap @ Mikkeller Bar, Copenhagen. It pours a light blurry deep red body with a nice big and really dense off-white head that's really lacing down the whole glass. Light sour in the aroma, some cherries?, wood, light tart, average carbonated and a slick oily mouthfeel. Tart and woddy, some sour cherries and lots of bitter hops. Really nice. A infected simcoe huh.. Who would have thought! 07.01.2012

Really like the color of this double IPA. Not as light as IPA’s generally are. Palate good for ABV 9%
