Fast on the heels of our fantasticly reformulated Hops Infusion, our brewers have picked up the gauntlet and brewed a Double IPA using exclusively Simcoe(R) Hops! This west coast Hops was created in 2000 by Select Botanicals, Inc. and carries a fantastic flavor profile abounding with citrusy-grapefruit, piney, resiny notes that pushes this Double IPA over the top. 9.0% ABV in the brew gives it a nice malt foundation as well.

On tap. Dark and murky amber colour with a medium sized off-white head. The aroma is filled with a ton of pines/resin hops, pineapples and a sweet caramel malts. The taste is heavy bitter with citrus hops and pines along with a bit of burnt, brown sugar. Medium to full body with an oily texture. Long lasting finish. Excellent DIPA.

Bottle. Hazy copper with a large light beige head that hangs around. Aroma of grapefruit, kumquat, blackcurrant, caramel, pine. No window cleaner. Slightly syrupy. Taste is sweet with caramel and some berries. Grapefruit, oranges and pine are there along with bitterness at the end but after the aroma the hops are a bit squashed by all the caramel. A while after a swallow the pine gets up off the mat. Typical "nice sizzle shame about the sausage" IIPA.

Bottle from River City Cellars, Richmond. Hazy amber with no head. Sweet, malty aroma with some citrus hops. Solid malts flavours, with big, prickly pine notes and a long, dry finish. Enjoyable.

Bottled 355ml. -from Ølbutikken or Kihoskh, Copenhagen. Dark orange coloured, medium sized off-white head, perfumy hoppy nose. Sweet malty, caramel and grapefruity hoppy with notes of alcohol (alcohol is noticable but I would never say that it has 9%). Sweet and long-lasting grapefruity finish. Very nice double IPA, even Maja liked it which is very rare occasion.

The aromas are dominated by dry hops and grainy malt. Its hazy with a amber colour. In the start of the taste peach is hitting you, and then more floral hoppy taste. In the end it feels like the hops and the bitternes is riding your tounge at first sips. After a while the bitternes balances more in yout mouth. The body is medium and feels slick with a long bitternes. Overall a powerful Double IPA (as it of course should be), but also balances more after more sips, and it only gets better!

36 cl bottle @ home, no BBE info
Aroma is, well, simcoe. Sweetish, syrup-like sugar, lots of gooseberry bush and some exotic fruits. Rather smooth palate. Flavour has also gooseberry bush and fruitiness. Very bitter finish. Sweet, bready malt can be observed when this warms up. Good DIPA that differs from the mass a bit.

One of the bitterest IPAs I’ve ever tried. This one has a fantastic, overpowering hop flavor to it. Pours a nice light, murky amber with good-sized head. Aroma is very malty, with little hint of the hops which await. The finish is very resiny, almost syrupy.
