Fast on the heels of our fantasticly reformulated Hops Infusion, our brewers have picked up the gauntlet and brewed a Double IPA using exclusively Simcoe(R) Hops! This west coast Hops was created in 2000 by Select Botanicals, Inc. and carries a fantastic flavor profile abounding with citrusy-grapefruit, piney, resiny notes that pushes this Double IPA over the top. 9.0% ABV in the brew gives it a nice malt foundation as well.

Bottle (thanks to nolankowal). Aroma of a fresh cut grapefruit in a pine forest only stronger. Dark amber color with small head. Initial flavor of sweetened grapefruit juice with a gradual crescendo of hops. Hops aftertaste lasts an incredibly long time - literally minutes.

(Bottle 65 cl) Pours a slightly hazy amber golden with a small, off-white head. Distinctly perfumy hoppiness in the aroma. Solid body with some caramel and then fat, somewhat soapy aroma hops leaving a distinct bitterness in the finish. 011206

A hazy amber beer with a thin oof-white head. The aroma is sweet malty with notes of hops and grapefruit. The flavor is sweet with strong notes of hops, alfa acids, and caramel, leading to a nicely bitter end. Nice.

Amber color with a reddish hue...very piney..bit of honey, a splash you might say...aftertaste of grapefruit and misc. citrus..not as good as i anticipated..the label is the shit though...the grapefruit is extremely overwhelming on the taste/aftertaste....then it gets in a warm mix with the resin and gets itself in a sour/sticky mess...just an awkard combonation of flavors, may be really good if pared with the proper food...alcohol is disguised quite well

Bottled. Strange hazy colour, mediumsized beige head. Aroma is flowery hoppy and caramellish. Smooth. Flavour is caramel, "IPA", fruitish and very positively hopped. Smooth and easy to drink. Refreshing. Also some nutty hints after it gets warmer. Hides the 9% very well.

Bottled. Hazy amber color, small white head. Sugary, bready, mead-like sweet nose, which is full of Simcoe aromas. Soft, sweetish mouthfeel, loads of hops. Bready, bitter aftertaste. Tasty, but not very complex for my liking.

Slightly, hazy orange body. Off-white creamy head. Good lace. Aroma of pears, caramel, fruits, hops, ... Moderately bitter, lightly sweet initial flavour. Heavily bitter to the end. Somewhat fruity in the beginning, but the bitterness takes totally over to the end.

Golden orange ale with a thin off white head. Good pinhey hops with light malt and caramel, and smooth alcohol. A very sweet malt comes out, with notes of treacle, floral piney hops, sweet candy sugar. Rich and smooth I2PA. Enjoyed with the Mtl Crew Sept. 9, 2006.

Bottle at Kookfest 06. Piney, sappy, grapefruit. Sauvignon blanc grassy aroma. Hazy amber with beige/green head. Really intense sweetish malt and then very good hop on end. I do like it. 4.3/5 Rerate Bottle at HogTownHarry Fest ’08. I can’t think of a beer with a better aroma. I could quite happily curl up with a couple of bottles of this and not see the world for days on end.

Orange-amber with a lacey white head. The best nose of USA hops possible. Fluid orange marmalade cake. Hops, of course, but also some garden herbs, and preserved fruit (oranges). Oily, fully bodied, lipsmacking hopoils. This is how a great I²PA ought to be.
