Fast on the heels of our fantasticly reformulated Hops Infusion, our brewers have picked up the gauntlet and brewed a Double IPA using exclusively Simcoe(R) Hops! This west coast Hops was created in 2000 by Select Botanicals, Inc. and carries a fantastic flavor profile abounding with citrusy-grapefruit, piney, resiny notes that pushes this Double IPA over the top. 9.0% ABV in the brew gives it a nice malt foundation as well.

Reviewed from notes.
This was poured into a snifter and a tulip. There was basically the same look and smell in both glasses.
The appearance had a nice ruddy orange coloring to it with a decent one finger white foamy head that dissipated within less than a minute. The lacing stuck nicely to both glasses.
The smell had a nice spicy and piney aroma running under my nose.
The taste had a decent bitter piney and slightly citrusy flavoring. There was a nice sharp bitter citrus aftertaste and it had a dry finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a medium in body with a fairly good sessionable aspect about it. The carbonation was appropriately harsh for the style.
Overall, I say this was a pretty good DIPA well worthy of having again.

Bottle, many thanks to coldbrewky. dark orange color with medium off-white head. Fruity and malty aroma. Taste, solid malty base with caramel followed by nice portion of hops with grapefruit, oranges, mango, lychee, tangerines, orange zest, pines, spices. Long hoppy bitter finish. Tasty.

Bottle from Bierkompass.de. Dark orange, hazy body with medium, creamy, white head. Intense aroma of tropical fruits, like mango, grapefruit and other, pine, caramel malt, some sharpness. Taste with generally the same aromas, again with a sharpness and a great balance between hop bite and caramelic malt backbone. Mouthfeel is medium, oily and finishes bitter and sharp, with citrus and pine. Really good, with a great, sharp hop bite and a good balance.

Underbar doft med mycket frukter å lite blommor. Torr å humlerik med viss sötma. Doften slog mikkeler hop burn lätt. Därav lite högre betyg trotts väldigt lika i smaken. Vad tycker Peter om denna tro ?.

Clear amber colour, small white head, good lacing. Aroma of hops, pine, apricot, grapefruit, light passion fruit, touch of honey. Bitter flavour, hops, resin, light caramel. Lingering bitter finish, quite fruity. Nice hops profile, I do like simcoe. Quite balanced for a single hop dipa.

Bottle, 9%. Mid caramelly aroma. Cloudy brown colour. Big stable tan head. The flavour is quite malty, but not sweet as such. Has a good bitterness to balance, but also quite subtle. The alcohol does not get too much. A very flavourful, but also well-balanced beer.
