Fast on the heels of our fantasticly reformulated Hops Infusion, our brewers have picked up the gauntlet and brewed a Double IPA using exclusively Simcoe(R) Hops! This west coast Hops was created in 2000 by Select Botanicals, Inc. and carries a fantastic flavor profile abounding with citrusy-grapefruit, piney, resiny notes that pushes this Double IPA over the top. 9.0% ABV in the brew gives it a nice malt foundation as well.

Bottle. Pours hazy amber with stable off-white head. Clear aroma of hops with notes of citrus and grass. Bitter, hoppy flavour with pronounced malty, fruity and caramellish notes. A great deal of alcohol. Dry aftertaste. A nice one.

An orangebrown beer with a weak and beige head. Aroma is tropical, mangos, pineapples, grapefruits and pine, some fructose. Taste starts with strong bitterness, but it’s balanced with nice/low sweetness, pine, some grapefruits, hint of caramell. The aftertaste is quite dry and there are also even some resin. Almost full bodied, slippery and nice to drink. Very nice DIPA that qives what it promises, strong bitterness and balanced sweetness, no fruits in the taste, but straightforward and piney bitterness.

Purchased at Corks & Kegs in Richmond, VA; enjoyed at home after watching 'The Imposter', kind of in a messed up mood. This stuff is great though! Appearance is a dark brown with light gold at the base and a very rich and frothy white head. Aroma is very rich in hops, in a way both citrus and grassy hops, smells very fresh. Taste is pretty phenomenal, huge hop profile and goes down not too bitter, very enjoyable, somewhat light which masks the ABV. Pretty great stuff.

Bottled. Good simcoe aroma of pine, garlic and onion. It’s just on the edge to what you can do with Simcoe in my opinion, as the garlic and onion can be too much when you use even more Simcoe. In taste it gives a nice citrussy bitterness, but it’s not really backed up with typical American biscuity maltiness. Instead it’s more clean and crisp. For a Simcoe showcase, it’s pretty good, though I prefer some other hops to make it a bit more complex especially in aroma. Same goes for the body. But all in all, the brew is top quality in what it is.

Has a raw sugar flavor, resin-like, hop cones. Main fruit i'm getting is grapefruit flesh with a candy-like sweetness.

Bottle. Pours a cloudy orange with a large frothy off white head leaving sticky lacing along the glass. The aroma is a strong floral hop and citrus. Medium mouthfeel with a sweet hop and light spice finish. Easy to drink a good IIPA rom Weyerbacher.

Bottle. Pours cloudy dark amber with a medium tan head and decent lacing. Aroma is caramel, pine, grapefruit. Flavor its about the same, medium sweet and light bitter. Medium bodied and a bit yeasty. Does not have what i would consider the traditional Simcoe flavor profile, but its pretty decent.

Poured from a 33 cl bottle. Amber pour. Not much head. Resiny aroma. Pine and ctrus in the favor. Lingering bitter finish. An excellent beer.
