Irish style dry stout with a yankee accent, pacific northwest hops and roast malts work together to produce a pithy orange chocolate flavour giving way to a dry bitter finish with hints of liquorice.

Firstly - don’t care what the brewers called this - its a BLACK IPA !!! Keg at the Old Fountain, 06/03/15. Black with a decent tan cap that retains very well. Nose is chocolate, earthy hop, vanilla, light charr, pine, tropicana. Taste is underpinned by an earthy hop presence, chalky mineral notes, light spice, cocoa rub, tropical fruit, pine needles. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a hoppy wash but finishes a touch thin. Decent CDA.

Keg at the hanging bat. Pours black with a thick white head. Aromas of grapefruit, coffee, cheesy hops. Taste is bitter, pine. Hoppy, for a stout.

On keg at the Barley Mow, Bristol 9/2/2015. Jet black in colour, with a creamy, beige, head. New World hops, plenty of roasted malts, a hint of grapefruit and some charcoal in the finish. Excellent.
