Bottle from The Beerhive. Dark brown body with a faint tan head. Light lacing. Aroma of charred wood, sparklers and sugary coffee. Flavour of toffee apple, caramelised sugar and wood. Medium body with a creamy texture. Soft fizz. For me, this sits somewhere in between a Black IPA and Imperial Stout. I like its burnt candy notes.

Chelmsford Winter Beer Festival in KEGS. Cask. Almost opaque dark brown beer, small bubbly tan head. Palate is smooth and light with modest fine carbonation. Smooth dsrk malts, little dark chocolate. Mild toffee and dried fruits and a pinch of spice. Light semi dry finish brings a little dark fruits. More old ale than stout.

Draught (Pleased To Meet You, Newcastle) - Black with a tan head. Toffee, liquorice, roasted malt and some slightly smoky hints in the aroma. Treacle, coffee and liquorice feature in the rich yet very drinkable taste.

Cask @ 3 Judges. Pitch black colour, brown head. Aroma has some toasted malts and plastic. Flavour some roasted malts, phenoles, no bitterness, no hops, no carbonation; fairly sweet, slightly sour. Pump badge indicates Imperial Stout, but I doubt that; much more old ale like.
