A full-flavoured Belgian IPA. The bitterness is well integrated in true Belgian style with a pleasant kick at the end. Hopclassic is packed full of hop character and is super refreshing on the palate.

Bottle at home in London - picked up in Edinburgh. Opens with a hearty hiss. Pours hazy gold with a monstrous white froth of a head. The nose gives off strong Belgian yeast, some pithy citrus fruits, grapefruit, hay. Medium sweet flavor, with more driving yeast character, citrusy hops, pale bread, light grain, straw, subtle funk. Medium bodied with lively carbonation. Sweet and lightly warming on the finish, with yet more yeast, some grapefruit, lemon zest, slight bitter hay. Not bad overall.

On keg at Holyrood 9A. Appearance - golden with a thin head. Nose - a bit savoury, quit cheesey in fact, Must be hop resin notes and there’s a whiff of lime and green stalky vegetables in there too. Taste - much the same but lime dominates green vegetables. Palate - close to medium bodied with a tangy texture and a long dry finish, Overall - a decent example though the nose was not the high point.

330ml bottle from Beerdock, Crewe. Pours hazy blond with medium white head. Spicy, sweet citrus with lots of fruity grapefruit and an accompanying bitter finish. Not massively into this but it’s alright.

Keg at The Hanging Bat. Pours cloudy yellow, no real head. Looks unappealing to be honest! Aromas of Belgian yeast, lemon citrus, bready. Taste is more of the same. Tastes better than it looks! Slightly thin on the finish. Good.

Light haze on this paleish gold beer, small white head. Palate is crisp and a little dry with good fine carbonation. Hops are a nice dry grapefruit and grapefruit pith, lesser orange. Dry seltzer. Trace of smoke. Finishes dry with carbonation nibbling. Bitter linger. Decent.

Keg at 6DN, 20/06/14. Hazed light golden with a moderate off white swirl atop the glass. Nose is rather thin for the ABV though not unpleasant, light citric peel, straw, yeast esters. Taste comprises tarte lemon rind, Belgian yeast esters, dried apricot, spice, bitter citric peel. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, drying close with light grassy bitter pangs. Solid enough Belgian offering.

Keg at the brewpub in Aberdeen. Hazed bright golden with a thin white sticky head. Aroma is spicy earthy hops with wheat grains and Belgian phenols. Flavour is Belgian blond yeast, light honey, spicy hop, earthy finish. Bitterness is firm and fairly earthy. Highish carbonation. Interesting enough.

Cloudy light tan. Not a good look. Aroma is quite fruity and yeasty, the taste similar, but more refined. The malts are pale and a little bit doughy, the citrus might be a bit muddled but it’s refreshing. Bitterness isn’t huge but it’s just enough. A decent take on the old "Belgian IPA" fad.

Bottle from Tomlinson’s, via Colin! It pours hazy pale gold with a medium fluffy white head. The nose is doughy, peppery, hay, spice, banana and sweet citrus. The taste is smooth, doughy, grass, spice, crisp bitterness, light alcohol, pepper and grapefruit rind with a dry, biter finish. Medium body, moderate carbonation and foamy mouth-feel. Nice level of bitterness. A solid Belgian ale. Original rate was 3.4 Update: July 2016. I have had this multiple times on draught now. Seems to improved quite a bit. Fresh, dry and very moreish. Quite De Ranke-esque. 3.7
