A special brew to celebrate the overdue death of the woman who destroyed Britain’s industry! At 111 IBU and 54 EBC it’s as black as Thatcher’s heart and as bitter as a miner’s tear...

[Cask at Reading Beer Festival] Murky dark brown with a medium beige head. An odd beer. There’s discernible wheat beer characteristics up front - banana, Weetabix and a grainy mouthfeel. Then there’s a little bit of charcoal followed by kiwi, grapefruit and pine hops. Essentially it’s a dunkelweizen mixed with an APA, with the APA winning this rather curious battle in the end. It shouldn’t work, but it tastes really interesting and, y’know what, I kind of like it. However, I wouldn’t have bought it if I’d known at the time that it was celebrating the death of someone’s mum, regardless of how controversial she was. Let’s try & keep the politics out of beer, and just enjoy it for the taste, eh?
