Suomen palkituin olut. Musta väriltään, kuohkea espressomainen vaahto, raikas mäntypihkainen havumetsien tuoksu. Jälkimaussa napakka humalan puraisu, joka on tasapainossa mallaspohjan kanssa.

Draught @ the brewpub
Aroma is rather hoppy with somewhat ripe fruits. Also hints of roasted malt and vanilla can be observed behind the hop wall. Flavour is hoppy with fruits and vanilla. Dry finish with roasted malt, coffee and some dark chocolate. Also Plevna house flavour is present. Becomes somewhat sticky towards the end of the glass due to the massive hop and malt amount. Rather hoppy for an Imperial stout, almost like a Black IPA. The best finnish beer I’ve had!

Bottle at Pikkulintu. Black color, brown head. Aroma of Starbucks. Taste has dark cocoa powder and espresso left on the burner too long. Nice.

Draft at Olutravintola Pikkulintu. Pours black with dark head. Aroma is light roasted malts but contained an element of chlorine. Flavor is very bitter coffee with chocolate. Good, but spoiled by aroma. (Rated 2011/04/24)

On tap at Pikkulintu in Helsinki, July 2010. Very dark brown, well you can call it black. Small tan head. A lot of hops in both aroma and taste. Coffee, licorice, chocolate, roasted malt. Very hoppy Imperial Stout, really good. Almost full body. I want another please!

At HBF thanks to some guy whom I thank so thanks, some guy! Poured a very dark red, almost black body with an of white head. The nose is dominated by aromatic hopiness, piney, with some dark malts too. Aroma hops are there in the taste again perched on a lovely malty, slightly roasty body. A great American IS! Shame I didn’t get a bigger sample.

Draught at Olutravintola Pikkulintu, Helsinki, Finland. One of the finest Imperial Stouts I’ve ever tasted, with a full body and a ton of hops, roasted malt and smoke in its taste. Hints of bitterness, chocolate and liquourice as well.

Draught at Plevna, Tampere, Finland on 9th August 2008. Black as printing ink and sports a handsome pale brown head. One of the finest stouts I have drunk in recent years. Full-bodied, very strong hoppiness for a stout as well as delectable roasted malt and smokiness. Very bitter chocolate notes too. Totally exquisite and recommended.

Pitch black color, off white head. Sweet honey, blood oranges, dark chocolate, liquorice all make an appearance, in this somewhat unusual brew. Sweet malty backbone and a long bitter finish.

Draught (St Urho’s, Helsinki) - Very dark brown, almost black with a tan head. Slightly perfumed and hoppy aroma with soap, hops, chocolate and coffee. Hoppy and roasted taste which is slightly soapy. Not bad but perhaps a bit too hoppy for this style. Having said that, most ’imperial stouts’ seem to be like this these days.
