Draught @ Brew pub - Suomenlinna Island, Helsinki, Finland. Dark fizzy looking beer with a lightly brown head. The aroma is very light and the flavour is lightly malty and quite darkly dry. Overall a passable porter.

Draught. Dark brown colour, small brown head. Aroma of sweet caramel and weak roast. Flavour is bready malts with weak roasted notes. Quite watery and thin. Slight dissappointment to what I waited.

(On tap 25 cl) Very black, almost opaque, no head. Dry, decent but not overwhelming bitterness. A rather light Porter by Nordic/Baltic standards - also not that fullbodied. Neat and easy to drink. 170405

Draught at brewpub
Dark ruby, almost opaque. Not much head. Nose has some toffee and fruit candy, maybe some hops. Light to medium bodied, slightly roasted. Some chocolate in the aftertaste. Quite lame.

On tap at the brewpub, which is situated in a listed building at the former Swedish (later Russian and Finnish) military island stronghold Sveaborg (since 1918 Suomenlinna) near Helsinki - now a UNESCO world heritage site. As I had this porter after the good Coyet Ale, my expectations were high (which normally, as in this case, leads to disappointment). Good to moderate head, pitch black. Coffee aroma with hints of fruit. Strangely sweet and fruity flavour. Some roast bitterness in the aftertaste.

Brown-black coloured. Light bodied for a porter. Slightly roasty with medium bitterness. This porter is not as exceptional as the location of the brewpub, which is situated on a beatiful island in the inlet to Helsinki.
