500ml bottle at home. Pours hazy orange with a thin white head. Aromas of resin, orange and pot pourri. Taste has a honeyed sweetness, some bitterness but not quite enough to make it pleasant. A bit cloying. Ok, not a lager though.

Bottle from BOE, split at JF’s, 03/11/13. Lightly hazed golden amber with a big old white head. Nose is fresh all over, toasted malts, citrus zest, caramel malt, light cereal notes, bitter orange. Taste comprises caramel malt, good hoppy backbone, light grapefruit, bitter orange, soft bread dough, mandarin, grass. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, crisp and clean with subtle hop bitterness in the finale. Decent work.

On keg at the Holyrood 9A. Appearance - cloudy amber to orange with good head. Nose - oranges, some earthiness, perhaps a bit of spice. Taste - oranges, apricots and a malty backbone. Palate - medium bodied, with a rich texture, but got cloying after a quarter of a pint. Overall - interesting beer, but needs to be more drinkable.

Bottle: Poured a deep golden color lager with a huge frothy head with good retention and some good lacing. Aroma consists of dry floral hoppy notes with light fruity notes and some citrus undertones with a lightly sweet malt base. Taste is dominated by dry floral notes with some citrus undertones and some hoppy notes with a lightly sweet malt base. Body is quite full with good carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Very interesting thought so much hops in there you loose sense that this is a lager.

From a 500ml bottle on 26/5/2013 (batch number 856, BB 15/8/2014). Pours a cloudy golden orange with a medium bright white head. The nose is fruity, slightly floral, with a bit of honey and caramel in the mix. Taste wise, there’s lots of sweet stone and citrus fruit (peach, apricot, mandarin), honey, and lots of caramel and some bready malt. Finishes with a strong, bold bitterness featuring some lemon and grapefruit. The body is full and carbonation spot on. That it’s 7.5% doesn’t surprise. A terrific, beautifully balanced beer, and one of the best things carrying the lager label you’re ever likely to try.

Pizzeria Paradiso, Georgetown tap ($10): Pours a copper color with a white head. Aroma is citrus hops, akin to an IPA, but with a clear lager element as well. The taste is a seemless blend of superb lager with well-crafted IPA. The fruity elements stand out and deliver, while maintaining excellent light, lager mouthfeel. I liked it a lot.
