Bottle at home. Funky sore nose, taste has a sharp sour cherry bite. 33cl bottle, thanks to a swap from Rob. It pours blonde with no bubbles and a good head. The nose is SURPRISE....sour, winey and some cherry and cherry stone fruit. The taste is more of the sour cherries and with a dry oak finish. The palate has a medium body and then a long tight texture which goes into the drying oak finish. Overall, this is really enjoyable. Is this what was intended? This has all the aromas and flavours of a Flemish Red while the beer was set up on here as an English strong ale. There must have been some wild yeast used in here or could that sourness come from the barrel.I guess the closest parallel is Rogue’s John John Hazelnut barrel which I also really enjoyed.
