Bottle (thanks omhper!). Black-colored with a big and very bubbly light brown head. Lovely aroma of dark chocolate, some liqueur pralines, quite a bit of dark fruits (raisins, some plums and maybe some faint grapes and berries notes) and a bit of alcohol. Sweet flavor of roasted malt, some chocolate and some fruitiness. Finishes mildly bitter with burnt, slightly smoky, malt and hints of caramelly sweetness. Medium-bodied. The flavor cannot match the complexity of the aroma but this is still a tasty stout.

Pours thick with a quickly dissapearing off-white head covering a black body. Aroma of molasses, wood, smoke, burnt malts, a little bit of soy, and light liccorice. Taste is bitter cooking chocolate, and burnt malts with very subdued coffee. Syrupy mouthfeel with somewhat lively buubles. A bit chalkey at the end.

great strong aroma. coffee, licirce, roasted stuff. pitch black with small yellow head. taste is roasted stuff, charchoal, fruits, reminds me of beer geek’s breakfast and ølfabrikken porter. aftertaste is very nice, good blend. well balanced although the roasted notes dominate. great stout. lots of taste for a 7% alc. i downed 2/3 of the bottle while rating cause it’s sooo drinkable..

Courtesy of Gillard. Pours dark brown with thin mocha head. The aroma is roasty with mildly burnt malts that nearly manage to cover up some faint molasses. It is fairly rich in aroma but on the mild side in strength. The taste is rich and roasty followed by mild burnt malts and sweet molasses. There’s also a thin layer of caramel and nuttiness in there too. A bit thin for the style especially side by side tonight with Dark Lord, Darkness, Boris The Crusher and Witch Doctor.

Bottle, 2003 vintage. A dark, dark brown beer with a ruby tint. Small, dense, beige head. The aroma has a pleasant touch of oxidation, coffee and chocolate. Quite lovely. Mocha, chocolate, dark coffee, some meaty notes and a touch of oxidation in the mouth. Dry and full-bodied. A delicious result from 5 years of cellaring. Rating: 7-4-8-4-15-3.8. (081229)

Bottle. It pours a lovely black body topped by a dense beige to tan head. Nice lacings too. The beer is more flavorful than I remember, and the aroma likewise. A bit thin though. There’s a lot of darkness in the aroma, with quite evident licorice, as well as roasted malt, coffee and chocolate. Good dash of sweetness too. It feels full-bodied at first sip, but it isn’t so full. Quite stickysweet though, and not so dry, even though there’s mocha, coffee and roasted malts. Some faint chocolate too. I would like more hoppy bitterness and some fruityness in the beer, as it is quite low on that. The alcohol can be detected, and gives a little warmth, but it sure isn’t forcing itselves through. It’s a surprisingly easy drinkable beer, but considering it’s 7% ABV, not a session beer. The sweetness of it also suggests it’s not a session beer, and it’s still a little weak if you’re looking for a real treat by the fireplace in the winter, or as a nightcap on a hot summer evening. Guess that leaves it somewhere in the middle, not that I know what that would be. Maybe the last beer before leaving the pub? (080605)

Bottle of Swedish beer n celebration of Red Wings winnin StanleyCup! Darl brown body with cream, roasted malt and chocolate aromas. Flavor is isfairly creamy with chocolate and roasted malt undrtones and a little bit of a stale coffee aftertaste. My complaint is that it is a bit thin and weakly bodied before coffee aftertase sets in.. Stil, very good. Go Wings!!!!

Yeah, not quite an imperial stout, so the foreign stout distinction is apt - dark brown/ruby beer, with a small, soapy lace - interesting aroma of cocoa, vanilla bean, tobacco, and an earthy, almost briny character that reminds me of seaweed salad (I’m not crazy, I smell it damn you!) - it’s actually a wee bit nutty and salty up front, but this quickly makes way for chocolate sweetness, which itself is swiftly undercut by tobacco and leafy herb bitterness - lingering notes of hazelnut - a very mild background acidity - some very interesting earthy components to this one - just different enough to stand out - but I swear something about this reminds me of seaweed salad.
