For this speciality, we use old and young lambic beer that has aged in our oak casks. When the lambic is 6 months old, we add 25% black cherries. This provokes the second fermentation. We then clarify, filter and bottle it.
The cherries and young lambic create a red beer that is both natural and fresh, with an absolutely unforgettable sweet and sour taste. This is kriek as it should be, with nothing but real cherries and lambic. There is no place for artificial colourings or flavourings.

16th Feb 25: 250ml bottle @ De Bralle, Loker. Super sweet, cherry boiled sweets.. not taking to this as much as before.

1st Dec 2016: Bottle @ St Arnoldus, Ieper. Pours blood red, white head with a faint pinkish tinge. Aroma is vibrant sweet cherry kriek. Taste verges on the sweet side, lightly cloying, clean and lacking a nice sharp kriek edge. That said, it was pleasant and refreshing enough on this afternoon

Boon-dry cherry excellence. Good whack of tart. Love how clean the 2015 vintage is.

2014 vintage from Tanakaya. Pours a deep ruby pomegranate with a half a finger of pink foam. Cherry drops on the nose but as it warms a little light oak makes its way out. Cherry all over the palate with a touch of blackberry. Fairly sweet, but not syrupy either. Crisp and clean carbonation. Not really tart though. A perfect gateway fruit lambic though.

4 oz pour on draft at ChurchKey. Clear reddish purple with light pink/purple head. Aromas of grapes, berries, red wine, cherries. Tastes of tart acidic notes, cherries and berries. Medium-light body with a dry finish. Great stuff.

37cl bottle. Dark ruby pour with a light purple head. Notes of cherries dominate the palate, with additional sherry, caramel and honey and very (and I do mean VERY) subtle lambic notes. Too sweet by far, no idea why this happens.

This was poured into a pokal.
The appearance was a dark hazy burnt red color with a slim finger’s worth of white foamy head that dissipated at a nice pace. Moderate amount of lacing appeared around the glass in a messy sort of way.
The smell started off with the sweet cherry side and then opened up into a lighter tart to almost sour underscore of cherries.
The taste was mainly the sweet cherries flowing into a delicate sour to tartness of the cherry side. Guess the aftertaste - yup - cherries. Finish is somewhat sticky sweet through the cherries.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a great sessionability about it. Carbonation runs light - nice sweet to semi-sour/tart edge hitting my tongue underneath.
Overall, damn nice lambic, I know I’d have again.
