En kraftig "Imperial Porter" med kaffetoner och eftersmak av saltlakrits. Inte lika dumdristig som storebror ”Idjit!” men har inga problem med att stå på egna ben!

From the one and only Dugges Ale & Porterbryggeri in Gothenburg, Sweden, an original, robust "Imperial Porter" with notes of coffee and salty liqorice.

330 ml bottle, from Vinmonopolet. ABV is 7.0%. BB date 08.11.2013. Lumpy sediment in the bottle. Cloudy and very dark brown colour, moderate beige head. Pleasant aroma of chocolate, cocoa and mild coffee, hints of vanilla. The flavour is fresh and slightly fruity, fairly dry, again with notes of chocolate / cocoa, hints of vanilla and a whiff of smoke, moderate hops in the finish.

Bottle. Black pour. Nice aroma of soft creamy coffee, mocha and licorice. Taste of salty licorice, creamy coffee and mild roast. Nice beer, although I saw the same nasty white chunks as benzai.

Bottle @ home. Almost opaque dark brown color, medium sized beige head. Aroma is malts, dark malts, a hint of coffee, dark cocoa in the background. Taste malts, toasted malts, a hint of hazelnuts, again some cocoa, softly bitter. Decent body and carbonation. Also: when pouring in the second part of the bottle huge white chunks of yeast residu -I guess, but it looked like some kind of mold or fungus- came with it which looked absolutely disgusting.

Bottle sample at a tasting at Yoav’s place. Thanks rayaron & zvsn. Very dark brown with a tan head. Nice roasty aroma with a bit of licorice, coffee, some bitter chocolate, dark fruits. Bittersweet flavor with roast, coffee, a bit of licorice, some chocolate, and a bitterish finish. Medium to full-bodied, rounded mouthfeel. Good.

Clear deep ruby brown colour, good frothy beige to tan head, good retention and lacing. Strong coffee aroma, roasted malts, cocoa, light liquorice. Taste is medium sweet and bitter, roasted malts, coffee, milk chocolate, with average to long duration. Roasty sweetbitter finish, bit smoky, light spicy notes, hint of alcohol, medium body, oily texture, smooth mouthfeel, average carbonation. A well-balanced and smooth porter, good quality. Contains lumpy residue which is a pity because there is less beer to enjoy, wish I’d bought a couple more since this one seems to be retired.
