Idjit is a potent imperial stout, black as the night and dark as sin. Loaded with roasted malts and the perfect amount of bittering hops, it is as smooth as it is powerful. A beer you can count on, any time, any where.
This beer started out as an experiment. Mikael likes to tell the story like this: One of our brewers wanted to see how strong a beer we could brew (at our old brewery in Mölndal). The result was a 16% imperial stout which according to Mikael was super gross; Too much of everything, unbalanced. An idiot beer if you will. However, after a few tries of scaling the recipe down and tweaking it a bit, getting the malt bill just right, we had made our idiot into our Idjit. And as we all know, Idjits rule!

Oooh, another classic that I always wanted to try! Thanks Ogi & Nisse! Poured a dark, daaark brown tinged with amber, almost black. Cascading and lasting but small off white head. Lovely nose, chicory, chocolate and Speculaas. Light light some and tobacco too. Creamy... The taste... whoa, roasty again yet smooth, chicory and tobacco, very light citric notes to help it out, long roasty/chocolatey aftertaste. Very, VERY tasty!

Riktigt fin redan nu och jag kan tänka mig att om man låter denna stout några år kommer den bli magnifik. Ordentligt svart. Lite kolsyra. Fruktig och söt i doften. Fyllig smak av frukt och choklad. Mastig, len och rund i gommen.

(Bottle, Akkurat, Stockholm) Black colour with lasting, beige head. Malty, roasted nose with notes of chocolate, coffee, cacao and hints of vanilla. Malty, roasted taste with chocolate, cacao, creamy coffee, chocolate truffles and a generous cacao bitterness in the finish. Almost full body, with a smooth and rounded mouthfeel. Quite dry, but a hint of sweetness coming through. Exceptionally well balanced and actually ridiculously good. Excellent beer!

Flaska från Systembolaget. Svart vätska med fingerhögt skum. Kraftfull arom med tydliga inslag av kaffe, bär och torkat hö. Hösmaken återkommer i smaken. Bra balans i treenighet mellan beska, sötma och alkohol.

Appearance: Sinful black color with a big bubbly beige head that last for a long time. Some lacing.
Aroma: Lots of chocolate and coffee. Some roasted malt.
Palate: Thick oily body. Slightly sweet, with some bitterness. Creamy carbonation.
Taste: Rich smooth toffee, chocolate and coffee flavor. Some roasted malt in the background. Very well hidden alcohol.
Overall impression: Well done Dugges. Powerful and tasty Imperial Stout without being to heavy. Im sure the Russian Tsar would be really pleased with this one. Well I am, and there is no Tsar anymore.
Location: Bottle from a trade with Nisse666

Bottle. I don’t see ounces listed. 16.9? Best before July 2013. Pours impenetrable black with brown edges. Has a small beige head that falls into a collar after a minute or two. Aroma is chocolatey, roasted malts, espresso, raisins, licorice. Taste is bittersweet with licorice being the dominant flavor along with all the other aroma descriptors a little less prominent. Mouthfeel is oily and the carbonation is a little lower than I’d like. Serviceable, but nothing special. Addendum: the guy who rated this below me described exactly what I was thinking about the body but couldn’t quite put into words myself: it’s lifeless.

Bottle. Opaque black liquid with medium, firm, velvety tan head. Aroma has notes of fresh coffee, wood smoke, tobacco, licorice, biscuit, ash, knäckebröd, earth, pumpernickel and grain. Nice. Taste is light sweet and light to medium bitter with notes of coffee (espresso), dark fruit, raw sugar and some ash. Medium bodied with a bit high carbonation. Could have been thicker with a bit lower carbonation. Otherwise, nice stuff. Maybe a bit sharp.
