Idjit is a potent imperial stout, black as the night and dark as sin. Loaded with roasted malts and the perfect amount of bittering hops, it is as smooth as it is powerful. A beer you can count on, any time, any where.
This beer started out as an experiment. Mikael likes to tell the story like this: One of our brewers wanted to see how strong a beer we could brew (at our old brewery in Mölndal). The result was a 16% imperial stout which according to Mikael was super gross; Too much of everything, unbalanced. An idiot beer if you will. However, after a few tries of scaling the recipe down and tweaking it a bit, getting the malt bill just right, we had made our idiot into our Idjit. And as we all know, Idjits rule!

Pours dark, mahogany brown. Aroma has some strong boozy roast. Taste is first strong and boozy also. Alcohol comes through, is warming and combined with hop kick and roasty bitterness. I am getting also more vanilla and hazelnut in the end. Fully enjoyable imperial stout.

Bottled August 2014, BB 06/2017. almost black color, almost no head. smells of ash, dried fruits, some roast notes, coffee, liqueurish, some alcohol, bitter chocolate, very light smoke note, some nuts. full body, soft carbonation, full mouthfeel. tastes of ash, charcoal, lightly sour, a bit acidic, some fruits, roast notes, coffee, bitter chocolate, some dryness, some alcohol. finishes with light sourness, roast and some ash. quite nice one, smell wasnt too interesting, but quite nice taste, not too sweet, not too heavy. drinks very nice, overall rather straight forward Imp Stout, but I like it that way.

330 ml bottle from my EU Secret Summer Santa _angst_, many thanks!
Dark brown body, with a small, creamy, coffee colored head.
Aroma of espresso, tiramisu, cocoa, toffee, some liquorice, some dark fruits, slight ash.
Tastes of espresso, liquorice, cocoa beans, bitter chocolate, tiramisu, dark fruits.
Medium, a bit oily mouthfeel, with a moderate carbonation.
Finishes roasty, quite bitter, but smooth, dry, with coffee, cocoa, liquorice.
Really tasty. Straight and quite comfortable to drink, with lovely espresso notes. Maybe not the most complex beer of tbis style, but very well balanced and round. Great example of a pure Imperial Stout without any gimmicks.
