Idjit is a potent imperial stout, black as the night and dark as sin. Loaded with roasted malts and the perfect amount of bittering hops, it is as smooth as it is powerful. A beer you can count on, any time, any where.
This beer started out as an experiment. Mikael likes to tell the story like this: One of our brewers wanted to see how strong a beer we could brew (at our old brewery in Mölndal). The result was a 16% imperial stout which according to Mikael was super gross; Too much of everything, unbalanced. An idiot beer if you will. However, after a few tries of scaling the recipe down and tweaking it a bit, getting the malt bill just right, we had made our idiot into our Idjit. And as we all know, Idjits rule!

Bottle shared with Ashton McCobb. Pours deep near black with a thin tan head. Aromas of liquorice, light smoke, tar. Taste is roasted hazelnuts, pistachio maybe, more tar. Light sweet finish. Strange lumps at the bottom of the glass.

Bottle thanks to allmyvinyl. Appearance - close to opaque black with a lovely fawn head. Nose - hazelnuts, pistachios, light smoke and molasses. Taste - molasses and tar. Dry liquorice. Palate - medium to full bodied with a creamy texture and a long and persistent finish. Overall - i like a beer I can chew.

330 ml bottle. Unclear dark brown body with a bid, dense beige head. Really nice aroma of chocolate, dark malt, some coffee and fruity hops. Flavor is sweet, smooth, roasted malt, dark chocolate, some coffee, dry fruit and good bitterness. Fine body and good aftertaste. Smooth, rich flavored and high drinkability. Alcohol is well hidden.

Bottle at home, bought from RealAle twickenham, drank 17th April 15. Poured wierdly, glutinous and lumpy, however seemed to settle down in the glass. Aroma is ash, smoke, tar, slight rubber, synthetic leather. Taste is full on malts, burnt wood, ash, tobacco, hops in the background, leaving a bitter finish. Dryer than many imperial stouts and well balanced. Mouth feel is very thick for the low ABV. Excellent

At a tasting, thanks DSG, smallish head, dark brown colour, aroma of toasted nuts and peanuts and roasted coffee, flavour of coffee, dark chocolate and some muddy and liquor hints. Quite easy but a bit too one dimensional.

33 cl bottle @ home, BBE 05.03.2015
Aroma has well roasted malt, cocoa and some toffee typical to English ales. Flavour has ash, salty licorice, cocoa, some hoppy tones, hints of coffee and vanilla. Too hoppy and ashy, a bit disappointing. Gets a bit better after some sips though as the licorice notes grow stronger and ash steps aside.
