This imperial really strikes back. From a strange country far, far away, comes the only Imperial Wheat Stout in the known universe. Once again, the ’Hand’ brewery - four guys brewing in their spare time, on an absurdly small scale - boldly goes where no brewery has gone before.

Thanks Ferris! Dark brown. Not much head. Sort of a fudgey aroma, but with a nice little smokey note. Has a similar palate, with fudge, smoke, but lacking in body and richness. This has the body of a lighter beer, but heavier flavours. Not bad, but definitely a little behind the curve.

Bottle at home, 1st October 17. Pours black. Aroma is chocolate, banana, yeast notes, spice, bread dough. Taste is like a German wheat beer, but hybrid with imperial stout, cocoa, liquorice, banana, grain, wheat, quite dry. Great take on an imperial stout, good job.

Very dark mahogany with a short-lived thin dark tan head. Notes of dark chocolate, smooth dark coffee, dark fruit, plums, dark cherries, a little bit of licorice, ash. Full body, intensely roasty, medium to low carbonation, smooth texture.
