Brown bottle, 0,5 l, batch 241, bottled on 21.03.06, best before 21.03.11, purchased on February 5 2007, savoured on March 2 207; eye: black as Earth’s insides, strong-cappuccion crema looking thick head that eventually completely disappears, opaque, no lacing; nose: powerful aromas of roasted malt, vanilla, dark chocolate,coffee, smoke, alcohol, licorice; mouth: a bit disappointing following that nose, heavy feel, mix of astringency and of slightly acrid hops, roasted malt, vanilla, dark chocolate, a bit of smoke and licorice, really long finale in a well roasted malt with a nice layer of caramel and vanilla and a hint of hops to finish, lightly oily and creamy but a little thinner than expected, mildly bitter, medium body, average carbonatation; overall: I would drink another one right awa FRANÇAIS Bouteille brune, 0,5 l, batch 241, embouteillé le 21.03.06, meilleure avant le 21.03.11, acheté le 5 février 2007, savourée le 2 mars 2007; oeil : noire comme les entrailles de la terre, mousse cappucino corsée, opaque, pas d’effervescence, pas de dentelle; nez : puissantes arômes de torréfaction, vanille, chocolat noir, café, fumée, alcool, réglisse; bouche : la bouche est un peu désappointante après ce bouquet, pesante, mélange d’astringence et de houblon légèrement âcre, malt rôti, vanille, chocolat noir, un peu de fumée et de réglisse, très longue finale en malt bien rôti avec un beau filet de caramel et de vanille pour l’accompagner et une pointe de houblon pour finir le tout, texture légèrement huileuse et crémeuse mais un peu mince, moyennement amère, corps moyen, carbonatation moyenne; en résumé : j’’en prendrais une autre tout de suite

Big dark brown head quickly grows coarse, then shrinks. Opaque black body. Deep coffee and burnt malts aroma with notes of dark chocolate and vanilla. Taste is hoppy softly burnt malts. Some vanilla, oily burnt toast, and chocolate. Quite soft and mellow taste. Soft, mealy mouthfeel. A dark, burnt coffee taste settles in the mouth as you drink. Good. A nice, easy session beer that also works for sipping. (0.5l bottle, batch #298. Updated batch #359.)

(50 cl bottle at Haket, Gothenburg) Dark red color, tan head. Fresh scent with some chocolate and smoke. Quite smokey taste at first, but changes into chocolate and then some burnt after taste. Medium mouth feel, where’s the oats? Medium bitterness.

(Bottled, Haket, Gothenburg, 6 July) Colour is dark brown, almost black. Nose is malty with a sweet and roasted character and notes of chocolate, some hints of coffee as well. Taste is roasted and malty with notes of chocolate and espresso. Smooth character of roasted oatmeal. Balanced sweetness. Smooth, nice and tasty.

Bottle. Pours a black colour with a small tan head. Sweet slightly roasted aroma. Roasted malty flavor with some hints of chocolate. Has a sweet roasted malty aftertaste with some bitterness.

Bottle 0.5l. Batch 141. Completely black with a tanned head lasting a few minutes. Aroma of coffe, roasted malt and chocolate. Medium body, and an unvaried aftertaste. Very good together with dark chocolate. Also enjoyed with vanilla icecream as a dessert. A perfect combination. KI=2.

Bottle from Ølbutikken in Tromsdalen. Very dark body. Characteristically outmeal with hints of dark chocolate and coffee. Fairly dry. The body has a creamy and silky smoothness with some roast flavours. A bit oily impression.

Bottled. light brown head. aroma roasted coffee. Flavour watery roasted but still a good beer. Weak pleasent roasted finish.

This dark brown sweet chocolately malty brew came across too wimpy, especially after having several of their other beers before this.
