Bottle @ Great Divide brewery, Denver,Co. Pours golden orange with a small white head. Nose is wood, oak, frruity hops, pine, scotch, caramel. Taste is sweet caramel malts, loads of oak, vanilla, nuts, bitter finish with orangepeel, grapefruit, pine. Medium to full body. Maybe the barrel aging have had a way to big inpact on the fruity- and bitterness of the fresh hops in DIPA, so that it now have a very subdued hop profile. Still its a very nice and complex brew. 041210

Amber with a lasting white head. Aroma of wood, hay and grainy malt. Sweet grainy flavour with more alcohol than hops actually. Rather disappointing

660ml Bottle - Dark amber/copper in colour. Pine, grapefruit, caramel and dried fruit in the aroma. Hoppy, fruity and alcoholic taste with notes of grapefruit, whisky, caramel and toffee. Nicely balanced.

Bottle from Systembolaget. Pours a foamy, small, tan head. Smells of north american hops, caramel, toffee, vanilla and coconut. Quite fruity in general. Taste is hoppy bitter with some sweetness. Not very balanced bitterness-wise, but what do you expect from an DIPA? There is quite a lot of alcohol in the finish of the taste. Medium to full body with a very dry finish. I’m not convinced that this beer really takes benefit from the wood aging and the high ABV, but it’s still good. Though, I find the coconutty tones in the aroma quite unpleasant.

Bottle thx to ekstedt, cons 2010-11-17, Göteborg AR: bounty (coconu coverd by dark milk choclate - I guess this come to my mind when Gnoff started to mumble about coconut flakes), oak barrell, apricot marmelade AP: reddish copper, wee beige head F: chocolate, alcohol, medium high bitterness, some odd fruitiness - that were not good! Simliare to the Ale Smith Horny Devil that I had the other day, but in that case it was good in this not!

Sweet, fruity, hoppy, coconut flakes (torra cocosflingor från påse), hoppy scent. Chocolate, harsh bitter, almonds, alcohol, mango ice-cream (almost to a sorbet version) taste. Too evident alcohol and also too dry. Medium to smooth mouthfeel, nettle and vanilla aftertaste. Bottle. Descent but still a bit disappointing. Quite sweet, with flavors of pineapple and strawberry. Some traces of alcohol. Pleasant bitterness. The bottle was about 6 months old.

Bottled @ Dutch "the Good, the Bad & the Ugly" tasting. Clear amber color, short head. Hoppy aroma, caramel. Bit bitter taste. Didnt get the wood, but I want to retry this one. Still got a bottle left for that.

Pours a deep orange-y amber colour with a thick head. Aroma is orange peels, pine and wood. Flavour is dry wood, loads of hops and a hint of chocolate. Long, bitter finish. Rather balanced for a DIPA.
