0.375l bottle @ Baran, Bergen shared with RuneStumo. The elder pours a beautiful pitch black body with a nice little lasting chocolate head. The aroma almost blows me away with fantastic bourbon, wood, mild vanilla and lots of dark chocolate and licorice. My god this is nice. It has a oily sticky mouthfeeling, quite full-bodied and softly carbonated. Tastes much what it smells just better. Lots of fantastic bourbon flavors, wood, chocolate, espresso, dark fruit and licorice. End really nice wit a little alco kick and it has a beautiful dark bourbon aftertaste. Glad to say that I have one more bottle of this fantastic brew in my cellar. Can't wait to try it again. Top notch all the way!

Bottle at 4:20. Brown, clearish pour with a slight, tan head. Heavy sweet, malty aroma, soy sauce, cocoa, dark fruits. Flavor isn’t as sweet as I had expected, but still sweet, dark malts, some cocoa, caramel, burnt sugar. Full bodied with soft carbonation. Warm, almost hot finish, dark fruits, dry chocolate, some peat and hoisin. Great beer.

Tap @ Falling Rock, Denver. Pours allmost black with a small ring of foam along the glassside. Aroma of caramel, coffee, port, raisins. Taste is very malty, oak, caramel, coffee, dark dried fruit, port, light booze. Thin to medium body, low carbonation. Very good beer. 090411

Bottle at Rotary, on April 8, 2011Black color, no head, Vanilla, oak, alcohol scent. Sweet, alcohol, cocoa, chocolate taste. Roasted and chocolate aftertaste. Smooth mouthfeel, medium high bitterness. Finishes dry.

Bottle thanks to Steptin at ACBF ’11. Black colour no head. Lots of vanilla burnt toffee oak all on aroma. No balance at all. No real beer aroma. Quite smooth in mouth. Too oaky burn and vanilla. Just too much. Coulnt finish my glass. Not enough original beer comes through. Too much barrel agsd flavour.

Pours dark licorice into a snifter. Mocha head leaves spotted tears as it recedes to coat surface. Vanilla, chocolate and bourbon aromas. Thick with dark licorice and soy upfront turning to dark pit fruit before the warming, smoky port finish.

(Bottle) Black colour, almost flat with brief bubbly head. Malty, vinous nose with liquorice, tar, molasses, dried fruit, vanilla, oak wood and bourbon. Malty, roasted taste with notes of liquorice, dark chocolate, dried fruit, bourbon, vanilla and oak wood. Warming, vinous finish. Almost full body, slightly oily texture, fairly sweet. High drinkability for its strength. The bourbon barrel gives it an interesting twist, but in my opinion the original version is even better. Lovely beer.
