375mL bottle, pours dark brown / black with a medium beige head. Aroma of rich bourbon, oak, vanilla, dark cocoa, peat and alcohol. Flavour reveals the dark cocoa, bourbon and oak upfront, with a smoky/peaty and alcoholic finish. Exceptionally well-crafted.

375ml bottle from Brewdog Bar in Aberdeen. Pours very dark brown with a thin mid tan head. Nose; bourbon, figs, brown sugar, soy sauce and some coffee. Taste; syrupy, chocolate, coffee, liquorice, wood, bourbon, sticky dark fruits. Complex and rich, but certainly not the easiest beer to drink!

12.7 fl.oz. corked bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 12.0%. Pitch black colour, moderate tan head. Intense aroma of sweet malts, bourbon whiskey, vanilla and oak, also moderate roasty notes, hints of chocolate and liquorice. Very sweet (too sweet?) and intense flavour, sweet malts galore, notes of bourbon, oak and vanilla again, also notes of mild coffee, dark chocolate and liquorice. Moderate hops.

Bottle from a trade with DeadGirl. Pours black with a few bubbles. Strong aromas of bourbon, oak, vanilla, chocolate and alcohol. Very boubon foward flavor. Lots of vanlla, chocolate and oak. The alcohol is still a bit hot. Full body with a slick, oily mouthfeel. A little csrbonartion would have made it that much more enjoyable. Still a nice beer. Thanks Amelia.

Bottled vintage 2009
Opaque black, no head. Aroma has raisins and portwine, like in the aged BW, but this is only one year old. Also some licorice and Bourbon. Full-bodied. Lots of vanilla, whiskey, licorice and raisins in the flavor. Of course also some alcohol. Smooth palate. Interesting, sweetish-salty beer.

Bottled. Deep quite much black colour, not much, but slight brown head. Aroma is alcohol, raisins, some vanilla, wood, dark fruits, Quite port/madeira wine like notes as well. Flavour is raisins, toffee, brutal plum, thick coffee, mild chocolate and vanilla. Totally brutal in flavour. Probably beats many things I’ve had for the flavour... This is heading for the top...

Sample from a bottle courtesy of JaBier at the Day Before Labor Day party. The beer pours opaque black with a medium thick light brown head that diminishes steadily. Rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of bourbon and dark chocolate along with malt. Full body with a nice oaky bourbon character accented by caramel malt, vanilla, coffee and chocolate. The finish is somewhat boozy with a cocoa and oak aftertaste. Good beer that I am glad I got to finally try.

375ml special cork bottle very nicely served with a chocolate bite at a place called 19. Glas in Gamla Stan. Vintage 2009 at a perfect drinking temperature. Pitch back body with a deep rusty shade. Bright shiny surface with dimples. Very, very aromatic with a confectionery smell added by raisin. Vinous taste containing cocoa and mocha balanced by mid-bitter dark fruits. Lingering and warming ending. Sorry, but I can not mentioned what I paid for this superb drink (Stockholm, 29.07.2010).
