Black color, flat, no head. Phenolic aroma, chemicals, roasted malts, chocolate, light apples. Strong body, oily mouthfeel, very salty; there is liquorice flavor in the front, then sweet caramel, and some chocolate; alcoholic. Drinkable, but too salty and flat.

Sampled from a 12.7 oz brown corked bottle this beer poured a black color with only the faintest trace of a brown head that dissipated quickly. The aroma was very strong and sharp port wine, wood and anise and had undertones of chocolate and tannins. Complex but a bit off. The flavor was bitter and very woody with strong anise and moderate port wine, raisin, tobacco and chocolate. The finish was long with bitter woodiness. The body was flat and a touch thin. Fairly boozy. Interesting but a disappointment compared to the regular Old Viscosity.

bottle, pours black, no head, and very oily. Strong oak and bourbon aroma. Flavor is huge vanilla and sweet bourbon with some of the roasty base beer in the background. Hot to death and I love it.

Draft, Toronado. I really love this beer. I’ve had it three times now and have enjoyed it more with every taste. This time, I got a glass to settle my stomach from a night of sours at Toronado’s RR -tion night (a 16 oz pour for $6 - bless that bar). This beer pulls off thick and rich better than any other beer that I’ve tried. The bourbon note is big and strong, but it doesn’t get in the way of the underlying stout. In fact, I find the oaky bourbon flavor balances the beer quite nicely. The beer is rich with coffee, cocoa, prunes and brown sugar, yet it’s not sticky or cloying. It’s definitely a slow sipper. The mouthfeel is velvety smooth. Fantastic.

No head. Opaque black body. Fruity plummy wooden aroma with notes of dates and soy sauce. Dry-sweetish earthy vinuous alcoholic chocolatey taste with vanilla notes. Full body. Hottish mouthfeel. Dry earthy chocolatey plums aftertaste with alcohol and vanilla notes. Nice and unusual. (0.376l bottle, shared by Ole_R.)

Bottle. Black,no head. Milk chocolaty aroma. Dark malts. Taste is also milk choclaty (due to the oak aging?). Also dark malts, soy, liqour filled bonbons etc. Thick and oily texture. Relative easy to drink for a beer of this style.
