Mango mead with black pepper added.

Many years ago, a mysterious book was discovered by a group of friends in a Ferndale, MI basement. A translation of its contents revealed the recipe for an ancient beverage using mango juice, honey, and black pepper. What they didn’t realize was that creating the beverage had dire consequences. Stricken by fear after its compleation, the friends tried to contain the terrifying forces into this very bottle. Once opened, however, no one can say for sure if it can be conquered. Bottle. Pours a very pale yellow with a lot of fizzy carbonation at first that dies down to nearly nothing in short order. Aromas are sweet (almost like pear juice) with a little hint of pepper. Flavor is sticky and sweet with a zing of carbonation and pepper on the tail end. I thought it was carbonation at first, but now I’m thinking it is pepper... Not really my thing I guess...

Botella . @Señor Lúpulo. Despacho de cervezas, Frikicata Gijón 27/06/2015. Color dorado claro transparente, parece un vino blanco, aromas a especies sabor dulce con un final picante, cuerpo ligero.

On tap and a little fizzy so first I thought this was beer. Quite odd for a mead. Clear lighter than pale, like whiter cider in looks. Sweet almost mint candy aroma. No head. Interesting tart candy thang with a tad of metal. Mix that with mild tiny twist of slightly rotten fermented fruit. Very good stuff, I think it even has a wild beer feel to it. Yes, a better brew experience. Wow, hides the alky rather well.

500 mL bottle. Pours a clear pale golden. Slightly sweet mild plasticky and honey aroma. White grape flavor with a bit of tropical fruit and a bit of plasticky flavor. Plastic diminishes as it warms, and it gets sweeter and more fruity, adding in an herbal note. I think I get a suggestion of the black pepper, but it’s really just a sensation in my throat after the finish. Pretty tasty, though.
