Mango mead with black pepper added.

Many years ago, a mysterious book was discovered by a group of friends in a Ferndale, MI basement. A translation of its contents revealed the recipe for an ancient beverage using mango juice, honey, and black pepper. What they didn’t realize was that creating the beverage had dire consequences. Stricken by fear after its compleation, the friends tried to contain the terrifying forces into this very bottle. Once opened, however, no one can say for sure if it can be conquered. Aroma has sweetish honey tones and root beer. Flavour has sugar, some honey and root beer tones. Unexpected, not like the other meads I’ve had.

Bottle. A clear one, pale yellow in color, without carbonation. Lovely aroma with black pepper, mango, citrus hints and a faint honey touch. Some flowery touches, guess that’s the mango playing tricks. The flavor isn’t as peppery, but there’s some. Honey, flowers, mango and some citrus in the flavor. Quite dryish on the palate, with a little carbonation. Medium to full body. Lasting honeyish finish with mango and black pepper. Very tasteful and easy drinkable this one. Yummi. 140418

bottle at home .. palest lightest golden yellow ... soft big pepper ... light mango nose ... soft fruits ... big peppery front ... light fruit ... little too thin ... massive peppryness ... but its just a little wishy washy.. not bad just not as good as i know most of these guys stuff is. Tap at Copenhagen beer festival... Massive cedar peppery nose... Soft juicy fruits... Sweet floral fruit... Juicy mango fruits. 3.6

My first \"mead\" to rate/review. I poured it into a wine glass.
The appearance was a super light yellow color and I could see clear through the other side. Bubbles cling to the sides of the glass. There is some light carbonation in the center rising at a moderate pace.
The smell had the honey and black pepper up in front.
The taste was combined adequately between the honey and black pepper.
On the palate, it sat closer to a lighter bodied alcoholic drink. I would say there’s a fairly good sessionable quality to this and the carbonation seems close to a \"wine styled\" alcoholic drink. It comes across fairly smooth on the tongue and mouth.
Overall, though I don’t drink wine period, this alcoholic drink is intriguing enough to come back to, and maybe even put it with some food though I have no clue what to pair this with other than my beer experiences might say, perhaps some grilled halibut steaks, tuna or salmon.
