Copper ale with a creamy white head. Fresh straw like aroma, with a hint of grapefruit. Soft smooth maltiness in the nose balanced by a spicy herbal bitterness. The essence of light refreshment

On tap @ Berts Bar, Edinburgh. Pours dark amber with a decent creamy head. The nose is a bit faint, in fact somewhat like a normal Caley beer but watered down. So, we’re talking malt and toffee. The taste has more of the same, though for a change it doesn’t have the expected oxidised astringent malt note on the end. It’s less offensive than usual, though maybe that’s because there’s less of it - the palate is light, the texture is light and it could just be a malt liquor I suppose. Overall, have had worse!

By the courtesy of mr_h, hand-pulled cask ale, half pint at Pot Still. Gimmick related to the alcohol taxation in the UK. Creamy, white head, clear amber body. Mild smell of caramel malts and the same goes for the taste profile. Easy to drink, and diluted as expected (Glasgow, 12.04.2012).

Cask gravity @ Nairn Beer Festival 2012
Caramel bown, clear, good frothy bubbly head
Aroma - caley malt slight popcorn aroma
Taste - light caramel malts, caley popcorn malts, bitter hop background, reasonable amount of flavour but what was there was not great to be honest
Palate - very thin, watery, bit rough bitterness. Finish - bitter, metallic.
Overall - I’m yet to find a decent 2.8% beer. Didn’t finish my half and moved on to something better
