Our take on an India Pale Ale (IPA.) A deep golden amber ale with a rich up-front malty nose finishing with a big, hoppy bite. Dry-hopped to finish with a big fresh (Cascade) hop flavor.
Fermented with our 150 year old strain of top-fermenting yeast.

Stale hops, dried grass clippings, and unmalted grain on the nose. Hazy copper, thin yellow head. Grainy, peanut hull, light soil notes. Subtle caramel notes as well. Walnut finish. Rustic but stale. The label says, "Best when fresh. Best enjoyed by date on neck of bottle." No date is legible on the neck. I suspect that the date may have been rubbed off due to advanced age, because this tasted like an old IPA. Still, I was able to find some enjoyment in it. This is probably quite nice fresh.

Bottle. Rich amber beer with a dark cream colored head. Floral and caramel aroma with light earth and citrus. Grapefruit and pine flavor with floral notes and malt. Medium bodied. OK bitterness. Floral and grapefruit linger with pine and light caramel.

Bottle at Texas Beerfest. Pours a clear copper amber with a small white frothy head that diminishes quickly. The aroma is grapefruit and caramel. Thin mouthfeel with a light citrus hop and grapefruit with a nice lingering bitter finish. A good IPA from Magic Hat.

Odd IPA, with a sweet, fruity, melon-like malt front that couples with a cooked-grain middle, then the hops pop up and dry everything relentlessly. I’m trying to get along with it, but I just can’t find much love for this bottle. There’s an unpleasant metallic tang to the beer that drifts from front to fade, while the hops don’t add much to the mix besides bitterness. Worth drinking just to understand the weirdness going on with the flavor, but you won’t want another one.

I picked this up from the singles cooler today on a whim. Pours a hazy orange amber color with a bubbly white head that dissipates quickly to a ring on the top. Smells of tart fruit, earthy floral hops, and a hint of caramel. Taste is caramel-ish toasted sweet malt with a bitter grapefruit/orange twang to it. Long lingering citrus fruit bitterness persists long after each sip. Light to medium body, resinous, watery mouthfeel, medium level of carbonation. I thought this one was just ok. While there was nothing objectionable about this brew there was also nothing noteworthy here either. Its certainly drinkable, but in the future I think I’d rather spend my money on something that wasn’t so boring.

Copper. Aroma is sweet, bready malts, light sweet fruits, and a bit of earthy hop. Flavor is much the same with the sweet and bready malts. Not a very strong hop presence in aroma or flavor. I was a bit bored with it.

Location: 12 oz bottle from Buy Rite - Jersey City, 5/3/11
Aroma: It has an aroma of malts, grains, a little citrus and some musky hops
Appearance: It pouyrs a mostly clear amber-orange color with a small white head
Flavor: The flavor is a like the nose, but lacking flow, it is grainy, light hops, doesn't quite work
Palate: This one drinks kind of watery, with soff-to-average carbonation, and a poor finish
Overall Impression: Not a real milestone beer or anything, but this does happen to be rating #1700 for this guy. Overall, the finish was the biggest weakness in this one. For some reason, I keep going back to the well with Magic Hat, but I don't know why, becuase I never really enjoy their beers. This one was no different in that regard, it is another Magic Hat beer that I found to be subpar...

This IPA poured a clear, deep orange colour with a slightly off white, creamy head. Scents included citrus, banana, earth and vanilla. First swig was smooth and very hoppy. Flavours of citrus and hopps... and more hops. A little spruce. Strong bitter finish right after swallowing. Bitter flavours lingering forever....
