Born in the luminous moors in an environment of untamed lochs and haunted Scottish castles, the ale Gordon Scotch Ale is so generous that it is willingly shared. Its white, unctuous foam, in total contrast with the dark brown elixir, is a pleasure for the palate. The connoisseur fraternity will recognise the authentic Scotch : the soul of the Scottish Highlands.

Bottle from Ohtsuki. Medium to dark brown with strong orange coloring and a medium-height, very fine and foamy off-white head. Big caramel, toffee, vanilla and molasses aroma. Very rich malt flavor. Tons of layered and nuanced caramel and toffee. Sweet for sure, but not cloying, with dark dried fruits, and balanced well by alcohol, hops, and a bit of roastiness. Thick, rich, heavy palate works very well. A very nice winter warmer / nighttime sipper. Sweet and big, though rather well balanced.

33cl bottle from Westholme Stores, Goring. Pours chestnut brown with a billowing cream head; aromas of sweet fruity malts and Belgian yeast; thick and syrupy in the mouth with rich deep roasted malt flavours, then some dry smokiness; followed by a herbal bitter finish. Very pleasant and drinkable.

33cl bottle from Dranken Geers. Ruby, clear, lasting thick beige. Some fruit and malt on aroma. Itβs a malty fruity ESB type beer. Alcohol is hidden well. Very drinkable, very easy on the swallow. Really rather approachable. Yeah, pretty good.

33cl bottle. clear deep red/brown, thick smooth yellow/white head. dusty, faint bitter, faint malty aroma. a bit spicy. but basically boring. flavor is whiskey, slightly smoked, dark fruits, lots of sweetness, malts, powerfull bitterness in the end. towards the end comes raisins and booze. overall i find this brew too boozy, and lacking some finesse.

A dark amber ale with a thin offwhite head. Apleasant caramel aroma, non-descript. In mouth, a peaty malt, oily mouthfeel, light licorice, not bad but not what I expected. Medium bodied. Bottle at De Bekeerde Suster, Amsterdam, Nov. 2006, 3.90 Euro.
